Posted October 3, 200718 yr comment_5422463 Rick Steiner & Sting vs. The Missing Link & Joe Savoldi (11/9/86) This match is there to further the Dark Journey/Missy angle and it ends up with Link being painted yellow. Steel Cage Match: One Man Gang vs. Hacksaw Duggan (11/9/86) Gordy & Hayes come down to ringside still pissed about Gordy getting his title stripped from him and Duggan decides to beat on Hayes as Akbar slams the door on Gordy’s arm. Brown & Irwin show up and slam Duggan’s head into the cage before throwing him in the cage bloody. Gang starts pounding Duggan as TV time runs out. Country Whipping Match: Ted DiBiase & Terry Taylor vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy & Michael Hayes) (11/2/86) Good to see Boyd Pierce back with the company doing intros. DiBiase & Taylor come out swinging the belts and they send the Birds to the floor. The match just gets kicking when TV time runs out. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts) vs. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) (11/9/86) Birds are out for blood with Gordy’s injury so the bring in Angel of Death and they bash the Fants’ heads in on Angel’s head. Fants juice heavily. Elimination Match & Loser’s valet gets painted yellow: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) & Missing Link vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, Rick Steiner, & Sting (11/16/86) Link gets eliminated early for using a headbutt off the top rope as everyone is in the ring brawling. Fants dominated the early part of the match and we got the always fun Fulton/Gilbert exchange but Tatum & Victory run in the ring to jump Steiner & Sting. Fulton gets eliminated for backdropping Gilbert over the top rope as Tatum piledrives Rogers on the floor. Steiner would belly-to-belly a limp Rogers for the victory. Gilbert holds up Dark Journey to get painted with Fulton trying to make the save by Link shows up and headbutts everyone. #1 Contender Match for the UWF Heavyweight Title: “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy (12/28/86) This goes to the floor at the start as both men just pound each other before going back to the ring for the match to start. This is another one in their series of hard hitting battles with Gordy throwing bombs and Doc taking them and following up with his own. Gordy starts to weaken Doc by working on his back with various moves and a bearhug. Gordy would take it back to the floor where he would throw Doc into the security railing then back to the ring with the bearhug. Doc would make his comeback taking Gordy to the floor and sending him into the railing. Doc brings it back to the ring throwing bombs and hitting a football tackle but misses a spear as Gordy sends him to the floor. They pound on each other for a double countout but that doesn’t faze them as they keep going at it with Doc being busted open. Gordy would hit a piledriver on Doc once back in the ring and Doc is juicing heavily. Gordy keeps pounding on Doc as the locker room tries to make the save but Doc makes a comeback and hits the Oklahoma Stampede before Doc starts beating on Mike George & Jack Victory as they run in. Doc & Gordy won’t quit fighting each other and they have to be held back. This was an awesome spectacle as everything was great. Definite nomiation. Badstreet Match: Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy & Michael Hayes) (1/25/86) This is what you would expect from this type of match as it has hard-hitting action and blood. Gordy just murders DiBiase with a backdrop suplex. Doc juicing off the cowboy boot shot was great. The face locker room having to come out was great too. Fantastic stuff and a definite pick.
