Bill Watts goes over the North American Heavyweight Title situation with Reed/Magnum/Nikolai Volkoff who beat Magnum in an unofficial title match then declared Reed was still the champion.

North American Heavyweight Title: “Hacksaw” Butch Reed © vs. Junkyard Dog (10/26/83)

This match was made because JYD was the winner of the fan vote from 2 weeks ago with a special referee who turns out to be Dusty Rhodes. JYD works a reverse chinlock for most of the early part of the match but would start throwing soupbones before missing with a diving headbutt. Reed starts throwing his own soupbones taking JYD to the mat and using illegal moves behind Dusty’s back. JYD would start throwin forearms to fight back on Reed but would hit Dusty by accident sending him to the floor. Reed would bodyslam JYD then climbed up the ropes but JYD would press slam him off the top rope. Neidhart would trip JYD as he ran the ropes but Reed would miss with a diving elbow. Neidhart came in the ring but Dusty would nail him with the Bionic Elbow as JYD would hit Reed with the Thump to win the title. This was a fun match.

Magnum TA vs. The Missing Link (10/26/83)

Magnum would win quick with the belly-to-belly as Link tried to come off the top rope with his diving headbutt.

Nikolai Volkoff vs. Jerry Oates (10/26/83)

Squash.

Iceman King Parsons vs. Tom Stanton (10/26/83)

Iceman’s debut in Mid-South.

Bobby Duncum & Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart vs. Mike Bond & Marty Oates (Jannetty) (10/26/83)

Squash.

King Cobra vs. Doug Vines (10/26/83)

Nothing match although it had a cool finish.

Mid-South Tag Titles: Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart & “Hacksaw” Butch Reed © vs. Hacksaw Duggan & “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes (10/26/83)

Dusty was droppin bows big-time here on the champs. Duggan played FIP then made the hot tag to Dusty who started throwin bows before hitting Neidhart with a cross body block for a nearfall when Reed pulled him to the floor. Dusty & Reed were brawling on the floor until Volkoff showed up and broke his bag of wheat on Dusty’s head. Volkoff then ran Dusty into the ringpost as Duggan was getting double-teamed until JYD & Magnum showed up to make the save. This was fun stuff.

Junkyard Dog vs. Bobby Duncum (10/26/83)

Duncum taking a bump off the top rope from a press slam by JYD was something for him at this time of his career.

Nikolai Volkoff vs. King Cobra (10/26/83)

Squash. Reed comes out after the match and destroys Cobra painting a yellow streak down his back. JYD then shows up with his chain to chase Reed off.

“Leaping” Lanny Poffo vs. Tom Stanton (10/26/83)

Lanny looks good again.

Dusty & Volkoff have a brawl in the ring with Dusty beating on Volkoff with taped fists then cuts an awesome promo. This whole thing has to be an extra.

Iceman King Parsons vs. The Missing Link (10/26/83)

Not really good.

The whole last weeks stuff doesn't count explanation didn't do much for me.

North American Heavyweight Title: “Hacksaw” Butch Reed © vs. Junkyard Dog (10/26/83)

Goes about ten minutes. Starts well and ends well but has some dead periods in the middle. I liked that ref (dusty) was down during attempt at top rope shoulder should block turned into military press (Flair signature spot) as kind of always feels silly to see illegal spot reversed. Fun.

Magnum TA vs. The Missing Link (10/26/83)

This was bad. I liked Magnum as underrdog babyface v monster Bundy. instead of doing that again, they run Magnum as guy who uses cleverness to counter Link's superior technique. That just seems silly way to match these two guys up and is bad. Finish is cool though.

Bobby Duncum & Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart vs. Mike Bond & Marty Oates (Jannetty) (10/26/83)

Wasn't Marty also a fake Fuller at one point?

Mid-South Tag Titles: Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart & “Hacksaw” Butch Reed © vs. Hacksaw Duggan & “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes (10/26/83)

Dusty's better than Magnum as Hacksaw partener in terms of filling out body. Neidhart is still Neidhart. But this is lots of fun. Post match Koloff dumping wheat on Dusty's head is holy shit great spot. I mean both a really cool jingoistic angle plus a great strong man spot.

Junkyard Dog vs. Bobby Duncum (10/26/83)

Duncum takes all his inring bumps really hard, and really liked his thrown into post bump.

Nikolai Volkoff vs. King Cobra (10/26/83)

Volkoff with the released butterfly suplex.

I love that one guy in the audience who puts out his hands to hush riled up crowd. "Every one quiet we need to hear what Dusty has to say."

Iceman King Parsons vs. The Missing Link (10/26/83)

Missing Link gets copletely squashed and Watts refers to IceMan's butt-butt finisher as the "rumper-stumper".

I really wished this was better, as I wanted a match up between these two on the set. Still too chinlocky and not a good enough hot end for a disc.

Man I loved this tag, Dusty was so great and it was just a fun babyfaces run wild match. Plus you had the awesome bag of wheat angle at the end. I am going to throw this up for nomination.
