Also, in addition to Cody being a bigger reason for AEW’s early success, I would also point to Jon Moxley, who damn near carried the entire promotion during the pandemic. He’s never been the best worker in the promotion, but he might be the best promo that they’ve ever had after 2019 Cody and Punk and he almost turned a lame duck interim title championship into a killer run by sheer force of will and intensity.
