Posted October 10, 200717 yr comment_5422712 The seeds of the Krusher Darsow turn begins as he is interviewed by Watts and he talks of his admiration for Volkoff’s ability. Nikolai Volkoff vs. Josh Stroud (11/23/83) Squash. Darsow comes to ringside and just watches Volkoff. Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart vs. Tony Torres (11/23/83) Squash. Reed is at ringside wearing a leather suit. Junkyard Dog vs. Tonga John (The Barbarian) (11/23/83) Yep it is the famous Barbarian working barefoot. Tonga gets a good bit of offense in here but he is green as grass. JYD looks like he has dropped some weight. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) vs. Mike Jackson & Rick Rood (11/23/83) And the MX era begins with Cornette announcing their arrival and they look awesome. Watts puts over Memphis big on commentary. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Frank Lavert (11/23/83) Squash. Magnum TA & “Leaping” Lanny Poffo vs. Carl Fergie & Doug Vines (11/23/83) They show a video before the match with II insulting Poffo’s family and Poffo says that II is manipulating Magnum. Fergie is doing a total ripoff gimmick of his cousin Lawler. II is at ringside taking notes. Hacksaw Duggan vs. Hacksaw Higgins (11/23/83) Squash. They show a video from DiBiase in Atlanta before the match telling Duggan & JYD that he would be back. Watts interviews Tom Lintz after the match who will be working Duggan next week. Krusher Darsow vs. Doug Vines (11/23/83) Squash. Nikolai Volkoff vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (11/23/83) Darsow is at ringside. Not a bad match here as after a ref bump, Volkoff throws Doc to the floor and Darsow attacks Doc putting him in the Canadian Backbreaker on the floor. Doc gets rolled back in the ring where Volkoff would finish him off. Darsow embraces Volkoff after the match and the turn is on. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) vs. “Leaping” Lanny Poffo & Josh Stroud (11/23/83) MX once again looks great. Magnum TA vs. Frank Lavert (11/23/83) Poffo does color commentary for the match. Mr. Wrestling II vs. The Missing Link (10/26/83) They show a match from a past taping that never aired. II wins with the Million-Dollar Kneelift. Hacksaw Duggan vs. Tom Lintz (11/23/83) Lintz is a big dude who would go on to become Boomer T. Lynch in Continental 2 years later. Duggan wins easily and expresses his anger at Darsow after the match. Mike Jackson & Rick Rood vs. Carl Fergie & Tonga John (11/23/83) Decent match that goes to a TV draw.
December 13, 200717 yr comment_5425163 The whole Poffo + T.A. angle is really weird, any idea of what they were going for here? I liked II v. Link, but nothing on here makes a set
December 13, 200717 yr comment_5425182 Weird thing about the angle is you have mic work built around the idea of a Poffo/Magnum team and then immediately after it Poffo is getting squashed teamed with a Josh Stroud or Randy Barber level jobberr. Really kills the execution of the angle. In the Terry Taylor is coming video they show highlights from two Taylor/Rogeua v Koko/Eaton matches from Memphis. Are those Memphis matches available?
December 13, 200717 yr comment_5425186 From Lynch #7... Terry Taylor, Jacques Rougeau & Bobby Fulton vs. Crusher Broomfield, Sweet Brown Sugar & Bobby Eaton (Elimination Tag Match) I'll have to look through more match lists.
