Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch (5/30/87)

Okay this is what we want right here. Hayes is at ringside to counter Gilbert. Gordy just nailed Murdoch with a right hand that Murdoch sold like a gunshot. Murdoch starts throwing his great punches and elbows to counter Gordy’s and we have a slugfest before Murdoch goes to the floor. Hayes is awesome at ringside leading the cheers while on commentary and Gordy does a good job in responding going to work on Murdoch’s arm as we go to commercial. We come back from break with Murdoch having Gordy in a reverse chinlock so we missed a chunk of the match. Gordy makes a comeback hitting some running tackles but Murdoch gets him back down again in the reverse chinlock. Murdoch starts peppering Gordy with punches but gets caught in the running lights with a big boot in the corner. Gordy makes his comeback with Murdoch trying to hide in the corner but Gordy starts nailing him with punches but Murdoch fights back before going down. Gordy goes for the Oriental Spike but Gilbert cuts his knee then dropkicks Hayes as he tries to enter the ring. Murdoch & Gilbert try to injury Gordy’s knee but Hayes throws Gilbert off the top rope and runs them out. The fans go nuts for the post-match promo. This wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be but it was still a good match and a nomination.

Big Bubba Rogers vs. Craig Whitford (5/31/87)

Squash.

Sting vs. Ron Ellis (5/31/87)

Sting is on fire here and debuts the Stinger Splash.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Rick Steiner (5/31/87)

These two had some fun matches a year ago and Steiner has improved a lot since then. There was some good action early on when the tide turned when Steiner caught Chavo off the top rope and they fell over from the momentum. Steiner tried to get back in the ring but Chavo threw him off and both men couldn’t make it. This wasn’t as good as their matches from last year and a shitty finish.

Ross interviews Gilbert & Taylor who finalize their partnership.

“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Terry Taylor vs. Steve Cox & Davey Haskins (5/31/87)

Gilbert & Taylor work great as a team here. Taylor wins with the figure-four on Haskins and Gilbert KO’s Carl Fergie before Adams attacks Taylor. It’s on 2-on-1 on Adams before Sting comes out to even the odds but Murdoch shows up to make it 3-on-2 before the Lightning Express runs in and this is a huge brawl as Steiner shows up to jump Sting. The jobbers come out making this like a battle royal before the Freebirds show up as TV time runs out.

Chris Adams vs. The Red Devil (5/30/87)

Dr. Death does a training promo getting ready for his match against Big Bubba Rogers for the UWF Heavyweight Title.

Dusty cuts a promo next regarding Doc/Murdoch.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Mike Boyette (5/30/87)

Chavo is back and looks good. Taylor is on commentary here.

Big Bubba Rogers vs. Steve Cox (5/30/87)

Cox gets destroyed by Devastation Inc. for the DQ in a message sent to Dr. Death.

“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch vs. Craig Whitford & Hank Wilburn (5/30/87)

Squash and Missy makes her return from her WWF stint where she never made TV.

Davey Haskins & The Lightning Express (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner) vs. Angel of Death & The Enforcers (5/30/87)

This wasn’t half bad thanks to the face team. Shaska interferes for the DQ.

Squash.

#1 Contender Match for the UWF Heavyweight Title: “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch (6/13/87)

This is from the Superdome and Doc’s comeback match. Doc has the big cast on his arm and if he uses it then he will be DQed. They go to a commercial break like 2 minutes into the match but it looks like we don’t miss it much as Doc is still controlling Murdoch on the mat. Murdoch tries to work on Doc’s arm early but Doc counters it every chance he gets including posting Murdoch’s left arm and working on it. Murdoch though would turn the tables and he started working on Doc’s arm as we go to another break. We come back from break and we totally miss Doc getting the advantage back as he is back to working on Murdoch’s arm but Murdoch would hit Doc’s injured arm with the microphone stand as Gilbert had the referee distracted. Murdoch would then hit Doc with the ring bell which Doc sold like death but he kicked out of the pinfall. Doc would hit the Oklahoma Stampede though but Gilbert would put Dick’s leg on the bottom rope. Doc would start his comeback and he started peppering Murdoch with punches but the battle would go to the floor where Murdoch would post Doc who would juice. We go to another commercial break and we come back with Murdcoh putting the boots to Doc but Doc would hit a spear on Murdoch that would send the referee to the floor then nailed Gilbert with the cast. Doc would then KO Murdoch with the cast and the referee made the count. Big Bubba then showed up and stood there as Gilbert & Murdoch would attack Doc who ate a brainbuster. Dusty would hit the ring and started brawling with the heels but was then destroyed by them with Murdoch using a bottle. Dusty would cut a great bloody promo afterwards. The babyface locker room would make the save. This was a very good match and a great angle afterwards and this goes on the block.

We then see a Big Bubba training session with Mike Boyette & Gary Young.

“Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. Rick Steiner (6/12/87)

Some good back and forth action going on here with both men looking good and we go to a break where it looks like we are in the middle of an Adams comeback. Adams would throw Steiner to the floor and he would throw him into the railing then the ringside table. The action gets back in the ring with Adams throwing great punches then following with a high backdrop and a fucking awesome Superkick. Black Bart would come out of nowhere and attacked Adams with his branding iron. Bart & Steiner would throw Adams over the top rope to the floor and Adams is juicing hard. Sting then comes out and cleans house on everyone as the fans go nuts but it would be 3-on-1 until Adams would jump on Sting taking the Texas Compactor. Good match and a hot angle to follow. The reason for the Bart attack was that the day of the tapings Gilbert, Hyatt, & Taylor got in a serious carwreck with Taylor having some serious internal injuries that would put him out of action for a couple of months.

Hot Stuff International (“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch, & Rick Steiner) vs. Shane Douglas, Ken Massey, & Jeff Raitz (6/12/87)

Murdoch is so awesome here in every way with his selling and his offense. This is also Douglas’ debut. Murdoch does a fantastic promo after the match about Barry Switzer, Dusty, & Dr. Death.

Black Bart vs. Bob Bradley (6/12/87)

Squash.

UWF Tag Titles: The Lightning Express (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner) © vs. Enforcer #2 (Doug Gilbert) & Shaska Whatley (6/12/87)

I guess Enforcer #1 (Mike George) quit the company. Shaska is great here on his selling and the champs looked good also.

I liked the early punch exchanges but this was pretty dissapointing, as this should have been epic. I am going no

Chavo Guerrero vs. Rick Steiner (5/31/87)

I actually liked the finish, as the belly to belly fall the floor was crazy looking, still not a nomination

Yeah this fucking ruled, I loved Murdoch working this like a New Jack match constantly grabbing shit from the outside, plus you got to love the blading of the arm. Finish was fucking nuts too, this goes on.
