Posted October 17, 200717 yr comment_5422881 Terry Taylor vs. Nikolai Volkoff (1/4/84) This was Taylor’s debut match in Mid-South and he answers the challenge by Volkoff to all Americans and gets the big win. Darsow’s I Love Russia shirt is great. Terry Taylor vs. Doug Vines (1/4/84) Taylor’s superpush is kicking in. Darsow & Volkoff tried to jump Taylor after the match but Duggan & JYD would even the odds. Hacksaw Duggan & Junkyard Dog vs. Hacksaw Higgins & Jeff Sword (1/4/84) Squash. Darsow & Volkoff attacked the faces after the match but got run out of the ring. Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II vs. Paul Garner & Don Ralston (1/4/84) Jim Cornette shows up right after the match starts calling the champs chickens for not defending the titles against the MX and he brings tar and feathers. MX jumps the champs destroying them and Magnum gets tarred and feathered. Great angle and the beginning of this great feud. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) vs. “Leaping” Lanny Poffo & George Weingroff (1/4/84) This isn’t a disc worthy match but it’s loads of fun as everyone works hard here. Watts talks to Magnum & II with Magnum still covered in feathers and they are mad as hell. Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart vs. Tom Lintz (1/4/84) Squash. Krusher Darsow vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (1/4/84) Doc jumps Darsow at the bell and throws him around the ring until he gets caught in the ribs with knees as he jumps off the middle rope. Darsow would keep the advantage until he missed a diving elbow drop and Doc made a comeback with his running tackles sending Darsow to the floor. Volkoff comes out and hands Darsow a foreign object then uses it on Doc for the pinfall. “Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Rick Rood (1/4/84) Sloppy match with Reed hurting his ankle it seemed on the tar that’s still on the mat. Reed would recover and won easily. Watts does an interview with Cornette which is hilarious. Terry Taylor vs. Krusher Darsow (1/18/84) This was supposed to be Volkoff but Darsow said that his shoulder is injured. Darsow attacks Taylor at the start and dominates him early on but Taylor would turn the tide quick. Volkoff then jumped Taylor bringing a noose to try and hang Taylor but he would reverse before Darsow would join the attack and then they hung Taylor over the top rope. Brian Adias & Rick Rude would make the save. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) vs. Roger Bond & Mike Jackson (1/18/84) Magnum & II are on commentary and Cornette comes out with another paper sack. MX looks great and destroy the jobbers after the match by giving Jackson a spike piledriver then tarring and feathering Bond. Magnum runs in the ring and II didn’t want him in there but would join in. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell vs. Mike Starbuck (1/18/84) Budro returns to Mid-South and a star is born. Brian Adias vs. Mickey Henry (1/18/84) Spotlight match for Brian. Masao Ito vs. Rick Rood (1/18/84) Squash and Rood “bleeds” from the mouth from a nerve hold. Ito was being put over strong here and he really sucked.
December 13, 200717 yr comment_5425204 Really nothing here but this may be the first of the preposterous Boyd Pierce suits. As up to now in 83 ands 84 he's had some flamboyant vests but here he whips out the all purple suit. The visual of him in his purple suit, Manum in his leather jacket and motorcycle gloves, and II in ugly plaid suit all at commentary table together is pretty great.
