Ross interviews Cornette about being duped by Grizzly Smith to signing a non-title match with Magnum/II vs. MX.

Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II vs. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) (1/18/84)

The champs jump the MX at the bell and send them running to the floor to recover. The champs work on both Condrey & Eaton’s left legs viciously early in the match but the tide turned when Condrey delivered a knee in II’s back in the corner. II then takes a tremendous beating from both men before getting some shots in and making the hot tag to Magnum. Magnum comes in blazing but as he would run to the ropes, Cornette pulls the top rope down and Magnum crashes to the floor for the DQ. Eaton would bring a leather belt in the ring and they started whipping II & Magnum before II brought chairs in the ring to clean house. This was loads of fun.

The champs cut an angry promo after the match declaring war.

“Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Mike Starbuck (1/18/84)

Squash.

Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart vs. Mickey Henry (1/18/84)

Squash and Neidhart’s beard is getting quite huge here. Reed would attack Neidhart after the match hitting his diving shoulderblock off the middle rope.

Masao Ito vs. “Jumpin” Joe Savoldi (1/18/84)

Squash.

Brian Adias & Terry Taylor vs. Krusher Darsow & Nikolai Volkoff (1/18/84)

Adias & Taylor jump the Russians as Volkoff sings the Russian anthem. Taylor showed a lot of fire here and basically carried the match as Adais did nothing but take a beating. Masao Ito showed up out of nowhere and attacked Adias using his nerve hold as Taylor brawled with the Russians on the floor. This superpush of Ito is ridiculous.

“Nature Boy” Buddy Landell vs. “Leaping” Lanny Poffo (1/18/84)

Landell’s robe is beyond awesome. Bill Watts officially acknowledges Joel as his son during this match as he is the referee. This was a very fun match with Landell getting a lot of good offense in and his selling was tremendous. Poffo looked fine as well but missed his moonsault press off the top rope as Landell got his knees up. Landell would backdrop Poffo over the top rope then attacked him on the floor before throwing him back in the ring. Landell would soon hit the corkscrew elbow to get the win. Once again a lot of fun.

They announce that Duggan is out of action after being injured in a Coal Miners Glove match with Darsow. Duggan was in fact on a tour of Florida as a member of Kevin Sullivan’s Satanic Army.

Krusher Darsow vs. Tommy Heggie (2/1/84)

Squash.

Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II vs. Jerry Grey & Tom Lintz (2/1/84)

Champs look good.

Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart vs. Larry Santana (2/1/84)

Squash.

Masao Ito vs. Mike Jackson (2/1/84)

ugh Ito.

Nikolai Volkoff vs. “Jumpin” Joe Savoldi (2/1/84)

Squash.

Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Terry Taylor vs. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell (2/1/84)

Some great fast paced action going on here with Taylor throwing some awesome hip tosses. Landell takes it to the mat but Taylor makes a comeback and hits the five-arm for the win. Really fun match.

And holy shit.Reiser Bowden nowhere to be seen and Boyd Pierce in INCREDIBLE purple brick patterned outfit.Pierce does the full "and i'm out of here" comedy announcing spot when the faces rush the ring. We've seen this before I think on the MX comp but maan Eaton eats a Magnum dropkick like its a Suwa dropkick except at like rocket speed.

Nature Boy” Buddy Landell vs. “Leaping” Lanny Poffo (1/18/84)

I think Watts acknowledged his son last week as part of his Grizzly Smith is really trying lots of refs and shelled out the money to get King Carl Fergie as a ref...yadda yadda talking point.

Landell looks to have mugged the star of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and this is a fun little match with Poffo taking the hands on top rope" pulled into ring the hardway bump" from the ring to the floor. Also Watts gets all creepy during hair pull spot " I used to like to get my hand in a bleach blondes hair and pull even some times ripping some hair out, Jim".

Masao Ito vs. Mike Jackson (2/1/84)

This is better than it has any right to be.
