Cornette is awesome here burying everyone on commentary. The match was fine too.

 

Krusher Khruschev & Nikolai Volkoff vs. Randy Barber & John King (3/14/84)

Hacksaw Duggan vs. Masao Ito (3/14/84)

 

Duggan basically no sells everything and squashes Ito. Volkoff showed up with a board and Krusher with the glove and they try to hang Duggan along with Ito. RnR Express among others makes the save.

 

Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Terry Taylor vs. “Hacksaw” Butch Reed (3/14/84)

 

Taylor uses his speed and wrestling ability to keep Reed grounded early in the match with his strategy being working on the left shoulder that Reed uses for his shoulderblock. They go to a break as Reed turns the tide and we come back with Taylor hitting a dropkick followed up with a bodyslam. Taylor kept up the offense until Reed kicked him in the face followed up with a elbow smash from the middle rope. Reed gets a nearfall off a suplex and then goes to a front chancery. Taylor would get up but Reed pulls him back down then gets back up again with it going to a slugfest as time is running out. Taylor hits an atomic drop with a dropkick as TV time runs out. I liked this one a lot.

 

Watts cuts a promo announcing his comeback and declaring war on the MX. Watts then shows a video where he & Jim Ross visits JYD on his farm in North Carolina and wants JYD to be his partner against the MX. JYD said that he can’t do it because he lost a loser leaves town but Stagger Lee could do the job. Ross then meets Stagger Lee wearing a blindfold and that Stagger sure sounds like JYD. Then they air a video of Watts beating on Terry Funk, Bill Howard,& Killer Karl Kox.

 

Mr. Wrestling II vs. Mike Jackson (3/28/84)

 

Magnum TA shows up and wants to take Jackson’s spot with II saying that he won’t wrestle him so Magnum slaps him in the face. II says he won’t wrestle him again so Magnum slaps him again and II walks off.

 

Hacksaw Duggan vs. Nikolai Volkoff (3/28/84)

 

This is a brawl at the bell and Duggan would hit his spear quickly before a masked Russian would jump in and it’s 3-on-1 until the RnR Express & Taylor even up the sides. Reed shows up and brawls with Taylor on the floor but gets his shoulder posted in the process.

 

Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Terry Taylor vs. “Hacksaw” Butch Reed (3/28/84)

 

Reed is late coming into the ring due to his shoulder injury and it’s in a sling demanding that the match be pushed back a week. Reed had the Coal Miners glove on under the sling and starts beating Taylor in the ribs with it. RnR once again makes the save. Reed is DQed from the tournament and he doesn’t have to job.

Squash.

 

This hour of TV was wild and full of angles with few matches so the Bill Dundee influence has taken over.

I liked the Wrestling v. Poffo match, and the TV is super fun to watch, but no matches of any note. Still Dundee could book his ass off
