Posted October 19, 200717 yr comment_5422956 I know Phil keeps mentioning 150 matches but I am having negative vibes on including that many matches. I was talking to Loss about the WWF set and we were talking about how it would have been a really good 50 match set.... for ten years worth of matches. For Mid South, I love the matches but I think there are alot of matches that may be fun or remarkable but not great. Personally, I would rather see a really tight 100 or 125 set than a 150 set with alot of filler.
October 19, 200717 yr comment_5422957 Let's see how it shakes out, how many matches have been nominated so far? I would think we might have too many, rather then not enough
October 20, 200717 yr Author comment_5422959 OH, I don't mind the nomination process and filling the folders up. More matches to choose from is good. However, I want to keep the set at ten discs and at a level that is easy to manage.
October 20, 200717 yr comment_5422964 I agree with goodhelmet. There's absolutely no way we should keep stuff off the set that deserves to be on, but at the same time, there's no reason to be absolutely set on 150 if the last 20-30 matches are just occupying a space. We'll see how it shakes out.
October 20, 200717 yr comment_5422972 My guess is, with over 200 matches nominated, we will be more likely to be cutting stuff that should be on, then we will be shoehorning on filler matches. I don't want a disc full of 20 minute Fantastics house show matches, I find alot more value in a hot JYD/Mr. Olympia TV tag with a crazy crowd, then another slight variation of MX v. R+R's
October 20, 200717 yr Author comment_5422974 I agree with you Phil IF there is concensus that the JYD/Olympia match is better than those MX-RNR matches. Really, my point is we need to distinguish between high-end nominations vs. low-end nominations. This is actually a better place to be in where we have to cut good matches vs. a set where we are struggling to fill 50 slots.
