Posted October 21, 200717 yr comment_5422977 Mr. Wrestling II vs. “Jumpin” Joe Savoldi (3/28/84) II is awesome as the old prick heel and his stuff on the mat was great. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) vs. Mike Jackson & Jeff Young (3/28/84) This is fun stuff as the jobbers get offense but the MX just beat their ass. Terry Taylor vs. John King (3/28/84) Taylor looks good. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell & “Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (3/28/84) It’s a brawl at the bell with some fast paced action once it becomes a regular match. Landell bumps and sells all over the ring for RnR until Reed comes in and hits a dropkick on Morton. Landell & Reed take turns beating on Morton who has his first FIP section on TV and he really does the job here. Morton gets in a slugfest with Landell but Landell immediately gets him back in the corner where Reed would resume control. Morton would kick out of a double suplex and he fights back on Reed in the corner but gets two knees in the face. Reed would press slam Morton before tagging in Landell who Reed picks up and drops on top of Morton for another nearfall. Morton continues to get pounded and Gibson has enough so he brawls with the heels until Cornette who was at ringside scouting pulled down the top rope and Gibson crashed to the floor. Morton though would catch Landell with an inside cradle for a nearfall but Reed would put some knux on his hand and KOed Morton for the win. I loved this match and it’s a DVD pick for me. Hacksaw Duggan vs. Russian Invader (3/28/84) Invader is the masked dude who attacked Duggan last week. Duggan would win here fairly easily. Masao Ito & Nikolai Volkoff vs. “Leaping” Lanny Poffo & George Weingroff (3/28/84) Poffo & Weingroff get some offense in here but have no chance. Magnum TA vs. Bob Owens (3/28/84) Squash. Mid-South TV Title Tournament – Finals: Terry Taylor vs. Krusher Khruschev (4/11/84) Taylor gets flowers on behalf of a handicap fan then Reed shows up saying that he hasn’t beaten him yet. Taylor tells Reed that he would be next then enters the ring and Reed destroys the flowers then piledrives Taylor on the floor. Taylor would leave and come back in a neckbrace and starts the match very strong before Krusher would throw him into the turnbuckle. Krusher starts working on the neck using the hangman’s neckbreaker and dropping him neck first on the top rope. Krusher would hit his own piledriver and gets the pinfall to win the title. Reed & Volkoff would celebrate with Krusher after the match as he gets his medal and $10,000 check. Bill Watts thanks everyone for supporting him in his comeback and they show footage of the Last Stampede but it’s not as Cornette has the film and they cut it up. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) vs. Josh Stroud & Tony Torres (4/11/84) Squash with Condrey breaking out a fucking awesome brainbuster. They show highlights of the II/Magnum NA Title match from the Superdome featuring the debut of Mr. Wrestling III (Hercules Hernandez) Magnum TA vs. Dale Veasy (4/11/84) Squash. Mr. Wrestling III (Hercules Hernandez) vs. “Jumpin” Joe Savoldi (4/11/84) Squash. Magnum would jump in and was double teamed until Stagger Lee made the save.
