“Nature Boy” Buddy Landell & “Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (3/28/84)

It’s a brawl at the bell with some fast paced action once it becomes a regular match. Landell bumps and sells all over the ring for RnR until Reed comes in and hits a dropkick on Morton. Landell & Reed take turns beating on Morton who has his first FIP section on TV and he really does the job here. Morton gets in a slugfest with Landell but Landell immediately gets him back in the corner where Reed would resume control. Morton would kick out of a double suplex and he fights back on Reed in the corner but gets two knees in the face. Reed would press slam Morton before tagging in Landell who Reed picks up and drops on top of Morton for another nearfall. Morton continues to get pounded and Gibson has enough so he brawls with the heels until Cornette who was at ringside scouting pulled down the top rope and Gibson crashed to the floor. Morton though would catch Landell with an inside cradle for a nearfall but Reed would put some knux on his hand and KOed Morton for the win. I loved this match and it’s a DVD pick for me.

Buddy Landell & Butch Reed vs. The Rock n Roll Express (3/28/84) (TV 60) (9:39)

Man this was non-stop action as Landel and Reed worked Morton over with the cool double team moves as they were such a great team. I wished they had a house show version of this matchup but as it stands, this was really good. Between, Reed's dropkick, Morton's fiery comeback cut short and Gibson' nasty spill, I think this one gets a yes from me.

I liked this as well. It was just a go go go match. Landell was just phenomenal here. Morton was his usual great self as the FIP. Gibson looked great with Landell in the early portion of the match, plus his big bump at the end was great too. Reed was good in this as well. Reed is a great athlete. With that said I was still blown away with the ups he got with his dropkick. Plus I got a kick out of the heels using some cool double team spots. Overall, this was just a good fast paced tag match that should make a disk. Plus I walked away thinking all 4 men in the match looked super.

I mean this is long ways off but, kind of makes sense to me to redo the 90s indies by region mixing in the SSW, with USWA, SMW, Wahoo's APW, etc. Handling Texas may confuse stuff but should be easy enough to figure out. When did the Assassin's Georgia fed start and end?

Redoing the 90s Japanese indies will be easier as I imagine you just split it into Disciples of Maeda ( worked shoot indies), Disciples of Hamada (lucharesu indies), Disciples of Onita (garbage) and disciples of Tenryu. That feels like it covers everything.

Their isn't really a clear family tree for dividing US indies.

I left college before stats got as computer oriented as they are now but I imagine you could pretty easily plug US indy rosters into a network connectivity program and create adjacency matrixes to divide US indies up.

But regions kind of makes more sense to me.
