Great action early on as RnR are just too fast and too smooth for the MX to even try and mount an attack. Morton throws Eaton over the top rope but there is no DQ and Cornette is angry but he wanted the rules. Morton would miss a dropkick as Condrey held the ropes and that would be the beginning of the MX offensive barrage. Eaton hits a nice powerslam for a nearfall and Condrey starts dropping knees for another nearfall then chunks Morton over the top rope to the floor. Morton would get back in the ring and jumped his way to a hot tag. Gibson came in but as he ran the ropes Cornette pulled the top rope down and Gibson crashed to the floor. Eaton tried to post Gibson but it would be reversed and Eaton is juicing. Gibson comes back in but hits head first with Morton who had an O’Connor Roll on Condrey but he pushed him off. Condrey climbs up top and goes to splash Morton but Gibson would jump on Morton to take the blow. Gibson would backdrop a running Condrey over the top rope and would catch Eaton with a sleeper who kicked Ronnie West to the floor. Cornette then sprayed ether on a rag and would put Gibson to sleep as the fans are angry as hell. West is back in the ring and Eaton covers for the victory. Ross interviews the new champs after the match and Cornette gloats. This was great stuff and a definite nomination.
November 10, 200717 yr comment_5423797 Rock n Roll Express vs. Midnight Express (No DQ: Tag Titles vs. $50,000) (5/23/84) I liekd this match but I really hate to see headlocks and armbars in a freaking NO DQ match. As a No DQ match, this started out weak but picked up when the RNR went flying outside and Eaton got posted. As a straight tag match, this is a gold star MX-RNR matchup with a great Cornette interview. Still this is an easy nomination even though it won't be the highest rated MX-RNR matchup on my ballot. start at 46:40; date with RNR Express... (1:09) (7:17)(5:16)(2:19) (14:51)
November 13, 200717 yr comment_5423886 I liked this but not as much as you guys. With a no DQ I thought we would have seen it break down a lot more than it did. I thought The Fantastics/MX NO DQ smoked this match. I will say though that was one hell of a power slam that Eaton did on Morton. To me the star of the match was Watts on commentary. He explained the stips real well, and got over the smell of the ether rag perfectly. Overall, I thought the match was good. If the last 2 minutes of the match was worked with that type of throughout the match I would give it a ringing endorsement. Because it wasn't I can only give it a mild thumbs up.
November 21, 200717 yr comment_5424263 This was a contest to see who could take the craziest bump over the top rope. Eaton wins by flying over the top on and landing on his knees. Not really a traditional tag match, much more of a brawl, I love me an ether finish. Fun stuff.
