I don't think so, it looks like two different dates, what TV shows were they from? Also what is keeping the Duggan v. Buzz chain match out of the for sure list? Seems like everyone loved that match, and it might finish in my top 5

As for the chain match, along with many other matches, I was giving you the guys the courtesy of putting your thoughts in before moving them up the ladder. The chain match, the 11/11/85 brawl, Reed-Dibiase and many others all seem like shoe-ins but I am waiting for you guys before moving up.

Shouldn't the DiBiase v. Armstrong match be in the maybe pile? It feels like we shouldn't move up matches with disagreements ahead of matches with no disagreements like DiBiase v. OMG.

No, you were the only one out of 5 people who didn't care for it. It is the same reason that I have the 4-tag (prior to your switch on the topic) and Robley-OMG moved in the top category. Many of the matches in the bottom category are not matches excluded from the top... some are just matches I need clarification on you guys from. There are still many answers I need in the REVISITING thread that you guys have not answered. The matches remaining in the category are there only to give you or Kris the courtesy of watching them before they advance.

With a ton of matches to go, we currently have 114 matches on the set. We still have a nice batch of matches to decide on. However, I am cutting the disc limit to ten discs. I think anything after ten discs for any set is overkill. I want us to be aware of the dilemma that we may have to make another round of cuts on matches that already appear on the set. I haven't devised a way yet to do that without feelings getting hurt but I'll figure something out.

I say we revist the idea of cutting the set off at the sale point. I was reading Kayfabe Memories today and apparently Bill Watts never even watched the promotion after he sold it. Seems weird to put matches on a Watts set, Watts never even watched. Also our working concept was always 150 matches, you and Loss were worried that the set would have too much filler, it doesn't look like that is the case if we are already at 115. If it is a matter of extra duplicating I can make some of the donators sets, but I don't want to cut too deep if we can avoid it.

Well, to be honest, I think there is a ton of filler on there already. We may be able to hit 150 on the list even at ten discs. However, things such as Personal Choice picks and the like may have to go out the window.

Ok, I added up the 114 matches already in the hole. It comes out to 7 discs and 4/5 of the 8th disc so that gives us about 8 1/2 hours of play time for the remaining selections. A realistic number to look for may be about 140 matches, maybe 145. However, in doing this, we'll need to cut out things like post-match interviews, pre match angles etc. in order to make them fit. Some of the stuff I had planned on including in the regular set (runup to the last stampede, runup to the Stips match) I can include in the extras disc.

I think part of my concern in terms of something being filler or not stems from watching the voting in the previous things.

 

I wasn't involved in selection proccess for WWF set (and thank God for that). And the WWF set was filled to the brim with stuff that made me want to vomit on my shoes. When ballots came back there where ballots that had 88 survivors Series as #1, Rockers v Brainbusters as #2, and 87 Survivor Series at #3. Both survivor series where in my personal bottom three and I think I only had one or two WWF tags in my top 50 (andthe Brainbusters v Rockers wasn't one of them).

 

Mid-South/UWF is filled with a huge variety of different types of high end matches.

 

Some of those styles of matches hold more appeal to me than others.

 

I don't particularly care for the team of Al Perez and Wendel Cooley. If its a choice between watching another match with their proto SAT innovative offense and proto Dragons Gate elaborate finishes or a Fantastics v Sheepherders brawl I will go for the brawl every day. But for the purpose of allowing people to vote, I want to give them a variety of things to vote for (that all the candidates aren't cut from same cloth).

I agree. With that said, I don't think that the crew we have here actually all like the same types of matches. But I also don't think someone should be represented just so they make a set. There will be a fuckload of RNR and MX matches because the RNR and MX kicked fucking ass. I don't think we should omit those so some random team or wrestler is represented. With that said, with another 9 hours or so available to go on, I don't think we will have a hard time getting a final list that will trump any comp I havge ever come up with. However, with the amount of matches still left in the cue (with maybe more nominated), stuff is going to need to be cut out.

Looking over the matches that are likely to be on the set, it doesn't look like anyone who was a major player in Mid South will be excluded or underrepresented.

Not at this time. With a shitload of matches to go through though even matches that made the cut will get cut. I just haven' figured out a way to cut them yet.
