Posted November 3, 200717 yr comment_5423427 Coal Miners Glove Match: Hacksaw Duggan vs. Hercules Hernandez (8/31/84) Back in Houston and we are at the beginning of the match with Herc trying to climb the pole early but Duggan gets him off. Duggan would hit him with a clothesline and then ran up the pole himself getting all the way to the top but Herc would catch up with him and they fought on the pole. They were trying to knock each other off so Duggan just threw Herc and himself down to the mat as we go to commercial. We come back right where we left off which is shocking with Herc getting the advantage on Duggan and throwing him to the floor. Herc climbs up the pole but Duggan joins him and would knock him off with elbows then almost fell off but would grab the glove. Herc would get back up there and would pull them both off back to the mat. They start rolling around on the mat then to the floor where Duggan would use a steel chair on Herc then brawled a little more before Duggan would get back in the ring to climb the pole but Herc would whack him in the back with the chair. They would knock heads but Duggan would catch Herc before he could climb up but Duggan missed a kneedrop. Herc would keep the control by banging Duggan’s head on the turnbuckle but Duggan would grab Herc as he climbed the pole then jerked him off by the tights. Herc would catch Duggan again before he could climb the pole then nailed him with a flying clothesline but would miss an elbow drop. Duggan would start stomping his feet then started firing punches then hit a backdrop followed by punches in the corner with a hiptoss. They would knock heads again but this time hit Ron West so Cornette would throw powder in Duggan’s eyes. Herc would climb the pole and grabbed the glove then missed hitting Duggan off the top rope and hit Ron West. Duggan would slam Herc and pulled the glove off and jacked Herc’s jaw twice plus dropped the elbow for a cover but there is no referee. Sonny King would come in and would make the count for a complete bullshit finish. This was a really solid match and of the best of Herc’s career at this point and I’ll throw it on as a low-end pick.
November 17, 200717 yr comment_5424040 I am going to have to go no on this one. Duggan has been in so many awesome gimmick matches and brawls with better finishes and this was really just a small bit part in the larger Duggan-Cornette feud. Not disc worthy.
