Posted November 7, 200717 yr comment_5423588 Sting vs. Mike Boyette (7/25/87) Boyette in those braids is fabulous. They show a clipped RnR/MX match from World Wide. Rick Steiner vs. Bobby Howell (7/25/87) Steiner just destroys him. They show a Windham/Angel match from a month prior. Handicap Match: Big Bubba Rogers vs. Ron Ellis & Craig Whitford (7/25/87) Squash. UWF TV Title: “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert © vs. Brad Armstrong (7/25/87) There was some good chain wrestling at the start before we go to commercial and when we come back Armstrong hits a cross body block for a nearfall but Gilbert would get back the advantage with a wristlock. Brad would reverse it into on of his own before getting a backslide for a nearfall then following with an armbar. Gilbert would get up but Brad would jack his jaw sending Gilbert flying out of the ring selling his ass off. Gilbert would get back in the ring and got some shots in on Brad before yet another commercial break and we come back with Brad having Gilbert in an armbar again. Gilbert would get the advantage back though as he would send a running Armstrong through the ropes to the floor where he would ram him head first into the table. Gilbert would keep kicking Armstrong through the ropes keeping him on the floor but would try to suplex Brad back in the ring and was reversed for a nearfall. Armstrong would make a comeback using some good punches and a nice dropkick for a nearfall. Gilbert would kick him though as he went for a backdrop but would miss a flying kneelift in the corner that Armstrong would capitalize on with a figure-four leglock. Gilbert is crying in pain as Terry Taylor shows up attacking Brad for the DQ. It’s 2-on-1 until Horner would make the save. Gilbert & Taylor would cut a promo afterwards on the floor but Adams would jump Taylor and Gilbert would get in the ring where he would meet a russian legsweep by Brad who would cover for a 3 count by Horner. Really solid match with a hot angle at the end making it a maybe nomination for me with the finish being the main reason for not a concrete nomination. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. Angel of Death (8/1/87) Not a lot to this one and Gordy wins with a big clothesline. Birds call out all the tag teams after the match. Terry Taylor vs. Steve Cox (8/1/87) This is Taylor’s first match back on TV since the carwreck. Cox keeps it competitive but Taylor would get the win with a backdrop suplex using the ropes as leverage. Western States Heritage Title: Barry Windham © vs. Shaska Whatley (8/1/87) Whatley’s selling and dancing here is awesome. Windham looks so fluid here in everything he does. Whatley would use headbutts to get the advantage on Windham especially after sending Windham to the floor where he would post him before bringing it back to the ring. Whatley would used a reverse chinlock with the ropes as leverage to keep Windham on the mat but Windham would fight back only to get nailed with punches. Windham would counter with punches of his own before hitting a backdrop suplex but missed a kneedrop. Whatley would get a couple of nearfalls before throwing Windham back out to the floor but Windham would catch him coming out and hit a sunset flip for a 3 count. This was a fun little match but not disc worthy. Buddy Roberts vs. The Terminator (8/3/87) This match is JIP. Roberts would hit the bulldog on Terminator but Bart & Bubba would run in to jump Buddy. Terminator puts the claw on Buddy and he juices heavy until the babyface locker room makes the save. “Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. Mike Boyette (8/3/87) The streak continues. Steve Cox wins the Rookie of the Year trophy and Gary Young comes out dressed up as a woman attacking him and stealing the trophy. This was great. Rick Steiner & Terry Taylor vs. Shane Douglas & Davey Haskins (8/3/87) The rookies get some offense in and make this really competitive but Steiner & Taylor are just too much for them as Taylor finishes Haskins with a figure-four leglock after Steiner clubbed him in the back of the head. UWF Tag Titles: The Lightning Express (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner) © vs. Big Bubba Rogers & The Terminator (8/3/87) Bart was supposed to be in this but Akbar pulled him out and put Terminator in because he wants Bart fresh for matches against Dr. Death. LX uses their speed advantage and solid teamwork early on to keep the pressure on the heels but it seemed that Horner was about to eat a Bubba Slam as they went to commercial. Sure enough when we come back Horner is getting his ass kicked with the heels being relentless. Bubba & Terminator look good here pounding on Horner but after a double head collision Brad would get the hot tag and the 4-way brawl was on. Armstrong would get the russian legsweep on Terminator but Bart would run in using the branding iron. Adams & Sting would make the save.

This is my favorite bizzaro Windham series as legit every time Windham had a run in WCW in the 90s they would run this matchup (including when Windham came back for the West Texas Redneck run). Every Windham run involves at least one syndi matchup with Brad and one with shaska. Its a rule.
