Since we are doing this set next, I was wondering, how much Mid-South Coliseum exists unclipped? I seem to remember seeing a lot of great looking music vidoes and very few complete matches. I think we are going to be spoiled by the Watts, as we can cavilerly dismiss JIP matches because we have so much uncut, is there anything like that out there for Memphis?

The real shitty thing is something like an early 1988 music video covering a four man tournament for a shot at someone (Hennig maybe?) that is only covered via Music Video. But the stuff shown in the MV (Lawler vs. Hall, Dundee vs. Jarrett, and then Dundee vs. Lawler) are all outstanding clips. But no full matches.

And even studio stuff can be iffy. On a TV episode that follows this MV, there is a Battle Royal for the #1 contenders spot, and the battle royal is pretty bad but the finals are Dundee vs. Jarrett, which is about 2:30 minutes of great action.

Even the great Lawler/Dundee Loser Leaves Town matches (6/83 and 12/85) are clipped (6/83 actually has two different versions floating around, one of which I think is personally better than the other in terms of where they clip and what they show). Plus, essential to both of those matches would be the Music Video highlights which show spots not seen in the TV versions. Dundee flying off the top rope and doing a butt splash on Lawler (and getting nice height) is in the 12/85 MV but not in the TV version of the match.

I'm kind of getting my life sorted out (nothing bad but I have to believe Phil/Tom thinks I am a total dickface, with good reason) so I would love to participate in the Memphis selection process.

Off the top of my head, the most plentiful periods as far as house show stuff would be:

- '82-'83 via Cornette, Lynch, and others. I have the Cornette raw footage version of Lawler-Dundee 6/6/83 and will check it against the FNN/Score Lawler special version.

- '83-'84 via PM Film, Wrestling Gold, etc.

- '84-'85 "Arena" TV shows originally owned by Steve Munari, now by Charles Warburton. We have some, but there's a lot more. Friedlander has a lot of these in the NL list. Plus the Lawler-Dundee LLT, wherever Rick's copy came from.

- '87 via Trent Warren's recordings when the "Arena" show was aired in Evansville.

- A small amount of '88 from the "Match of the Week" from their shows on FNN/Score. There should be more than we have, including a Lawler-Kerry match.

This doesn't include stuff on commercial tapes, which have stuff from various periods. Also, in '87, the "Arena" show aired a Chick Donovan vs Koko Ware match from '80-'81ish to build up Chick's return. Plus, there's Lawler's 2nd FNN/Score special (never seen the first around) which is mostly stuff we don't have elsewhere-Savage LLT, Bigelow TX Death, Rude cage...

I also have a Lawler-LeDuc from Cornette where Lawler gets 10 lashes if he loses, and Hart gets 10 if LeDuc loses, plus a complete (I think) version of Lawler-Hogan.

As far as stuff that exists but we don't have, Scott Decker had these on his old site:

CWA Arena matches: Tape #1 - 1988 http://web.archive.org/web/20040529081820/...tape_00750.html

CWA Arena matches: Tape #2 - 1988 http://web.archive.org/web/20040529082507/...tape_00751.html

USWA Nashville, TN - 7/9/89 http://web.archive.org/web/20040529081749/...tape_00758.html

USWA Jonesboro, AR - 7/10/89 http://web.archive.org/web/20040529082639/...tape_00759.html

The most notable match is Lawler vs Ron Garvin from '88.

There is more raw footage that Cornette has and sent copies of to RF. Warburton has this tape but it's hard to get a deal started with him and it has tracking faults dubbed onto it by RF:

I posted this in the Friedlander thread in Collection Data but it's worth posting here, too:

Friedlander's Memphis Arena '82 is largely new stuff. It appears to be a nicer copy of this Warburton tape that we wanted:

Lawler-Bockwinkel is from 11/8/82 where Lawler regains the Southern title in the program designed to show that he can beat Bockwinkel.

The other arena discs are mislabeled dupes of the '82-'83 and '83 arena stuff that we already have from RF and Lynch.
