Business as usual I'm guessing. People probably bitched about the weekly shows (I have followed from way afar, since I'm way behind and wanted to avoid major spoilers). Then PPV is awesome with great matches galore. Rince/Repeat.

5 years is a lifetime. What a ride this has been. Hopefully more to come.

I know a lot of folks here weren't huge fans of the MJF/Cole stuff, but the truth is it was over huge with the fans and the only reason it ended with a thud was because Cole getting hurt fucked everything up.

Thing is, the part everyone hated lasted as long as the stuff people liked. I don't think fans are eager to watch MJF vs Cole right now, the whole Undisputed Kingdom has been a complete DUD since its inception at Worlds End. Roddy could do the matches and comedy/fuckery on his own and be in the same place and just as over as right now and everyone else has zero impact on the product.

I really liked Swerve-Christian, even with all the bullshit interferences. It had the struggle in the basic exchanges I really value, made the big spots stand out much more.

I love Dragon, but I am kind of getting tired of him eating a pin pretty much every time he is in the ring. This has been brought up before, but at what point does it stop being selfless and becomes, well, selfish? Tonight wasn't one of the worse instances, and the match definitely was crazy - owing to Darby, the man is insane, one of the best wrestlers of the modern era without any hesitation - it is more the pattern that annoys me.

The Danielson retirement tour is pretty self-indulgent, but it can't really be described as selfish. The difference between the two is that the latter involves the pursuit of self-interest or personal gratification at the expense of the bigger picture. I don't think you can argue that AEW is being harmed by Danielson putting people over or his opponents are being harmed by beating him. It's also simply inaccurate to say he loses every time he steps in the ring. He's won 72 percent of his matches this year according to Cagematch and his only singles losses were to Okada, Sabre, Kingston, and Ospreay. He still keeps himself strong enough that beating him means something.
