July 1, 20241 yr comment_6022377 That main event had to be the best Jim Ross I've heard in like 8 years. The original camera take for that stomp onto the announce table was perfect because you couldn't really notice Osperay jumping up to make the spot work, that shit was crazy. Didn't see the whole show but the matches I watched all ranged from good to great. Something I've noticed more and more these days is that AEW fans are more looking forward to fast paced sequences with flashy and cool looking reversals than anything else. This crowd got fired up every time they saw one. It took some batshit stuff like Takeshita blue thunder bomb on the tables, the curve stop from the main event (and the wild nearfalls in that match) to reach the levels of hype those kind of sequences got in different matches. So for Wembley we are looking at: Toni vs Mariah (probably their best built angle right now) Ospreay vs MJF Mercedes vs DMD Swerve vs Danielson or the Wildcard (Hangman Page?) That's pretty damn good imo, on paper it sounds better than the top matches from last year, imo.

Ospreay won't be hurt at all by waiting a bit before becoming champ. Roof blew off for Britt lol, no one can deny she is a star

July 2, 20241 yr comment_6022396 Great show, but boy did Sasha/Vaquer and Mox/Naito shit the bed. I'm willing to believe Sasha got injured very early on and had to keep going because of the Britt Baker return after the match. As for Naito...dude is cooked. He's in the same spot Tana was 5-6 years ago where he's clearly old and broken down and a shell of himself, but can pull out a few miracles per year. That match definitely wasn't one of them. Speaking of Tana, that match was the best usage of him I've seen in ages. Miracle the crowd was still so molten for Swerve/Bruv after the back to back duds, but god damn did that match rule. So did Shingo/Bryan and ZSJ/OC.
July 3, 20241 yr comment_6022406 I think it was my favorite match of the night as well. Thought Vaquer looked amazing and have enjoyed Mercedes in all 4 of her AEW matches thus far. PWinsider said there was a ton of internal praise for it afterwards and that Mone' went in to the match with the intention of "making" Vaquer for the US audience

July 3, 20241 yr comment_6022413 God I don't know what match I saw, Vaquer did look great and very impressed with her upon first viewing, but the match was full of so many miscommunications and awkward resetting to get back into some kind of groove. Sasha looked like she either got rocked or hurt very early on and was struggling to get out of it the whole match to me.
