September 10, 20241 yr Author comment_6024278 Dragon Lee's run so far is puzzling, WWE wanted him so badly they pantsed AAA by having him announce he was peacing out right after winning their tag titles, yet so far all they have done is make him the first officer of the lwo who loses all the time.
September 10, 20241 yr comment_6024280 Agreed, he beat Angel Garza when first called up and then never won another singles match again. RAW is going back to 2 hours from October through December

Even so, we'll probably see a close approximation of what it would have been like as it looks like we're getting Punk/Gunther at some point.

Its only puzzling if you willfully ignore that the WWE has consistently and successfully pushed one masked lucha star in the past 30 years. That's not to say other US companies have done much better, but there's an asterisk next to nearly every successful Mexican star the company has featured since Tito Santana. Eddie and Rey are at the top of the heap, but they were also somewhat proven commodities when they arrived in WWE. Alberto Del Rio was pushed very strong, but I don't recall a single stretch of time at any point when fans actually wanted him in the main event or that he was regarded by critics to be particular great or even over as a top, top guy. Sin Cara flopped. Andrade, Escobar, Garza...does anyone see any of them being top guys in the next 5 years? Dragon Lee could be the best wrestler on the planet, with the most marketable gimmick, and I would still bet against him getting much figure up the card than Kalisto did based on the company's history.
September 10, 20241 yr comment_6024296 Dragon Lee seems alright at the US/IC level as it is, and he'd probably have a great program with Gunther back when he was IC champ, but it seems they kinda forgot he existed. As hot as some of the upper card and main event programs are, they seem to have this... midcard purgatory. Also, yay for Xwitter not working in Brazil anymore. Fusck Elon.
September 11, 20241 yr comment_6024304 TNA surviving all these years through everything, to now be in an inter promotional relationship with WWE as WWE is hotter and better than it's been in decades? If not ever? Thats wild. TNA will never die. TNA is also on lots of streaming platforms. Tons of old and new TNA is all over Prime, Tubi, etc, etc.
September 11, 20241 yr Author comment_6024305 Surprised we haven't got a Santino appearance yet since he's the authority figure in TNA and Ariana Grace recently showed up declaring she's the liaison between NXT and TNA.
September 11, 20241 yr comment_6024316 I thought Giulia looked good in her debut. Not sure about the animal pelt on the back of her outfit, and I thought Chelsea maybe took a little too much of the match, but all in all I think it came off well.

September 11, 20241 yr comment_6024327 Hammerstone didn’t really get eaten up; it just wasn’t as big a showcase as you would think. Also, hilariously, Femi looked much more polished as Hammerstone looked a bit timid. He got some good chances to shine, but Femi just looked better. He’s very good for someone so young.
September 14, 20241 yr comment_6024388 Yeah, those Andrade/Melo matches are sick. Just let them hoop.
September 14, 20241 yr comment_6024392 MCMG to WWE seems years too late as they're already both in their 40s and a NXT run of THEY'RE HERE for a year or two seems like it won't be anything more than what they'd get out of AEW run. However, the idea that they'll get a 2 year in ring run and then be agents with Petey and Abyss seems like the main benefit and idea of signing with WWE over AEW for them specifically.
September 16, 20241 yr comment_6024417 I know no-one watches Level Up, but there's one of those rare C-show gems this week in the Kendall Grey/Tyra Mae Steele match. They play up both women's amateur credentials before the match, but as Steele is an Olympic gold medallist, she controls most of the matwork. Really fun competitive grappling, Grey gets the chance to show a few nice reversals, and Steel looks a real prospect considering her career matches are still in the single figures. Real fun 5 minute match.
