Posted November 23, 2024Nov 23 comment_6025930 Maybe this belongs on the youtube channels thread, but has anyone seen this channel? A lot of it is stuff already on the network/peacock, but they also have a whole bunch of stuff not there like the Survivor Series 96 Free for all match, a 2003 Nasty Boys Dark match, and even a Dragon Gate match (World 1 vs Warriors). Good to see that they're doing something with their archives.

December 22, 2024Dec 22 Author comment_6026608 Triple H vs Tajiri in Japan: Possibly Tajiri's best WWE match?
December 22, 2024Dec 22 comment_6026610 Saw the Tajiri match drop and kept hearing reactions of how great Triple H was, rather than how great Tajiri could be getting a ton of offense in a 20+ minute match in front of his home country. Tajiri's got plenty of great, compact TV matches, but rarely was he able to stretch his legs with so much time like on that house show.
February 11Feb 11 comment_6027723 I occasionally peek into the WWE folder to check on news and saw there was this here. The Vault page is actually pretty interesting and posts super regularly. I'm not too interested in any current the "E" does anymore so this is a cool resource. I'm maybe but probably not going to watch this: Just interested in seeing more Paul London from around this time. Jimmy Yang too, I suppose.
February 11Feb 11 comment_6027737 My favorie thing they post is the old Coliseum home videos. They really should be putting those on Netflix but I am guessing Netflix doesnt want them.
February 11Feb 11 comment_6027740 This channel is gonna be the default home for old shows going forward. I don’t think they’ll ever just dump the library but they’ll continue trickling things out.

OTOH, I dont see them uploading any shows with Benoit, Brock, or Vince (aside from shows where he's on commentary) anytime soon. On a more positive note, here's a compilation of various dark matches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAxZoUMqXHc&t=304s
March 7Mar 7 comment_6028217 Saw this today also...This is going to be a treasure trove. The fact that they're putting up full TV episodes and PPVs/shows is fantastic. This is probably going to be my first watch:
March 8Mar 8 Author comment_6028237 I wonder if WCW saved any of their dark matches, wouldnt mind seeing some of those on this channel (Maybe put on some pre-tv goldberg matches).
March 20Mar 20 Author comment_6028444 Here's a neat little match, Kerry Von Erich vs Ric Flair in 1992 (they make reference to Flair being WWF champion, so this must be from early in the year)
March 21Mar 21 comment_6028448 Video says October 5, 91. Probably shown on Prime Time after he won the Rumble.

It's from a home release, WWF Wrestling World Tour, released in late 92 (so I guess the commentary was taped during Flair's second run). The match is from the same Barcelona show (in 91) where Tito Santana pinned the Undertaker: https://www.prowrestlinghistory.com/videos/wwf/listing/coliseum.html#misc https://thehistoryofwwe.com/wwf-results-1991/
March 22Mar 22 Author comment_6028470 WCW House Show from Manchester England 3/13/93 Would have rather seen the one where Sting beat Vader for the belt, but this is a nice rarity as well.
April 4Apr 4 Author comment_6028712 My only problem with the WCW Vault channel is that they're uploading Nitro/Thunder episodes, but skipping over episodes that have Benoit matches. While understandable, they could simply just delete Benoit stuff like WWE 24/7 did, instead of skipping over entire shows, including matches that have nothing to do with him.

May 10May 10 comment_6029881 Generally speaking, the WCW YouTube page has been putting up a load of '99-00 era junk lately. Oh they will put a mid 90's match or a TV episode from the NWA 80's but given the have a wealth of footage, they're posting turds anymore. The latest looks like Hogan vs Kidman from Slamboree 2000...who's clamoring to see this match?
May 11May 11 Author comment_6029920 You'd think it would be chock full of matches involving Austin, Taker (as Mark Callous), Cactus Jac, Terra Ryzing/Jean Paul LeVeque (obviously), etc. Kind of a " before they were stars" thing.
May 11May 11 comment_6029927 Looked at the view count for the WCW channel and stumbled across this: * Flair/Steamboat Clash match - uploaded April 2 - 31k views * Booker T/ Eddie Uncensored '98 - uploaded April 4 - 411k views (4th highest viewed video on the entire channel) * Vader/Cactus Jack Saturday Night April '93 - uploaded April 5 - 57k views * Sting/Steve Austin Saturday Night April '95 - uploaded April 8 - 51K views When it comes to pre-Nitro stuff, full shows are doing much better than singular matches. The full SuperBrawl '91 show and the WarGames match from WrestleWar '92 were uploaded the same day that the channel launched. The former has more than double the views of the latter, 153k to 70k. I did laugh at seeing the the Arquette title win has less views than the episode of World Championship Wrestling (12/21/85) that was uploaded the same day.
May 11May 11 Author comment_6029929 Another issue is that they're skipping over shows that had Chris Benoit. Now, I have no problem with them cutting out his matches, but why get rid of the whole show? Given the format of wrestling, it's not like it affects continuity if they removed his matches.
