Posted November 12, 200717 yr comment_5423839 Tommy Wright vs. Ricky Starr (11/10/85) Spotlight match for Wright. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. Nick Patrick (11/10/85) Gilbert is awesome here. The Bruise Brothers (Mad Dog Boyd & Porkchop Cash) vs. El Corsario & Mark Strong (11/10/85) The heels are barefoot and Corsario is now a full blown jobber. Bruisers are pretty funny here. North American Heavyweight Title: “Hacksaw” Butch Reed © vs. The Nightmare (11/10/85) This is JIP for some reason. They do an US indy style cradle exchange here with an O’Connor Roll, backslide, & inside cradle which is odd from these two. Reed looked good here hitting a German Suplex and throwing some great soupbones and Nightmare wasn’t bad either. The finish was interesting as they had a double collision then Reed caught Nightmare with his knees as he was falling on him then rolled over for the victory. Pretty fair little match. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Lord Humongous (11/11/85) If Jake wins he gets 5 minutes with Humpy. Jake of course tries going for the mask during the early part of the match but Humongous would motion to him that he ain’t havin that shit. Jake would keep on trying though as he would hit a high kneelift then went right back to work on the mask but Humongous would roll to the floor. Humongous would get back in the ring and right back to the offensive attack with numerous bodyslams to setup his bearhug. Humongous would release the bearhug but would keep up his attack on the back before going back to the bearhug as this match has gotten boring as hell. Jake would hit a reverse atomic drop to start his comeback before hitting a clothesline. Jake would chase Humperdink around the ring before getting back in and DDTing Humongous but would go back after Humperdink. Humongous would take advantage of this to use the Shennomake to get the win. Humperdink would then drop and elbow on Jake making his own 3 count. David Peterson vs. Gustavo Mendoza (2/16/86) Already watched this on PPW earlier. Koko Ware vs. Shawn O’Relly (2/16/86) Ditto the above and Koko looked great here. No DQ, No Time Limit, Dark Journey in a cage about the ring, North American Heavyweight Title vs. Mid-South TV Title: “Mr. Unpredictable” Dick Slater © vs. Jake “The Snake” Roberts (2/28/86) This is Jake’s swansong in Mid-South and for this awesome feud. Jake would brutalize Slater’s left arm early in the match dropping it on the top rope then wrapping it around the ringpost before going to work on it on the mat. Jake would keep up the attack for a while in between Slater trying to fight back, which he would finally break free by raking the eyes. Slater tried for a piledriver but Jake would reverse then sent Slater back to the floor where he wrapped his arm around the railing but Slater would post him though. Slater would then work on Jake’s right arm by tieing it in the ring ropes and bashing it with a steel chair. The Houston crowd is going apeshit trying to rally Jake but Slater keeps the pressure on his arm. Slater would hit his piledriver for a nearfall but Jake would make a comeback by bashing Slater’s head on the turnbuckle then followed with a high kneelift. Jake would then take his boot off and started nailing Slater with it before going to a DDT but Slater would reverse with a russian legsweep. DJ would drop a chain from the cage and Slater would wrap it around his hand but Jake would catch him with a clothesline before using the chain himself but Slater would backdrop Jake over the top rope to the floor. Slater would climb on top rope and dropped an elbow on the back of Jake’s head for the 3 count. This was a great match and a definite nomination. The other two matches have already been watched on PPW.
