Ron Garvin vs. Greg Valentine (MSG 12/30/88)
-    This is the first match we have on tape between the two. Damn, the arm work from Greg is brutal. Forearm shots to the arm. Shoulder blocks to the arm. Non-stop damage. Garvin responds with a nasty slap to the chest. Damn, the shots they hit each other with never get old. Punches, forearm shots, slaps, chops. Valentine gets nailed and is about to fall forward. Garvin stops him and does a ten punch in the corner. He falls again and gets stopped and then whipped into a sleeper. The crowd is with this the entire way. 2 leaping headbutts and finally Valentine is allowed to collapse. Even after an elbow drop, he won’t stay down. A Garvin pin attempt is reversed and Valentine attacks the arm again. Beautiful but violent. Like the Tito classic, every move is fought over. Every single moment matters. These Garvin headbutts are sick as fuck followed by 3 hard slaps. Valentine gives a low blow and the tide instantly turns. He is channeling Wahoo and chopping Garvin’s chest and follows with a NASTY forearm… followed by nasty pointed elbows. Oh, here’s a knee to the face for good measure. Garvin fights back and these guys don’t quit. After a reversal, Valentine hooks in his own sleeper. Valentine hits a shin breaker and Garvin’s selling is awesome. Hammer prepares for the figure 4 but cant hook it. He keeps damaging the leg even as Garvin fights back. After one shin breaker, Garvin punches Greg in the face as he crumples to the ground. Garvin crawls for the pin but is too late. He rips off the shin guard, the ref stops Garvin from using it but Valentine gets the roll up for the win. After the match, Garvin uses the shin guard anyway. EASY NOMINATION. Another classic from these two.
