Mid-South TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. Hercules Hernandez (1/2/85) This had some pretty good chain wrestling to start off with shockingly with Herc being in there but it wasn’t long before he started the power offense. Taylor would get Herc in an O’Connor Roll when Landell showed up then Herc strangled Taylor with the turban for the DQ. Iceman King Parsons vs. Jack Victory (1/2/85) Squash. Iceman King Parsons vs. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell (1/2/85) Landell challenged Iceman after the previous match and Iceman squashes him. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Mike Jackson (1/2/85) Squash. Handicap Match: Kamala vs. Rocky King & George South (1/2/85) Squash. North American Heavyweight Title: Brad Armstrong © vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (1/2/85) This starts off with amateur takedowns but Doc would take the advantage using power moves. Doc works on Brad’s left arm before killing him with a football tackle that Brad bumped huge for. Doc would then go back to the left arm and everytime Brad would come up Doc would take him back down by the hair. Brad would finally fight out but ate a big clothesline for his trouble although Brad would soon come back firing away with punches before Doc killed him with a belly-to-belly suplex for a nearfall. Brad would again come back with punches peppering Doc but would get kicked in the face on a backdrop try for a nearfall. Brad would catch Doc with a knee as he ran into the corner then caught him with a forearm and a punch to the gut. TV time runs out as Brad gets a nearfall. I really liked this match a lot but not enough for a nomination. Duggan gets his award for 1984 Athlete of the Year and this is a must extra. RnR/Guerreros with Cornette as manager is next and I already nommed that. Hercules Hernandez & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Jim Powell & Josh Stroud (1/16/85) Squash. Iceman King Parsons vs. Dale Veasy (1/16/85) Squash. North American Heavyweight Title: Brad Armstrong © vs. Ted DiBiase (1/16/85) These two have worked together many times. DiBiase viciously pounds Armstrong’s head into the turnbuckles and he works very tight at the start but Armstrong knocks him to the floor after a dropkick. Brad would hit a high kneelift for a nearfall after DiBiase peppered him with shots in the corner. Brad would work like a madman here keeping DiBiase on the mat and getting a nearfall on a backslide. DiBiase would murder Brad with a backdrop suplex though to turn the tide and DiBiase follows with some vicious kicks to the head with more turnbuckle shots that look like they could KO someone. DiBiase would crank in a rear chinlock but Brad would fight up and ran DiBiase into the corner backwards. DiBiase would miss a diving elbow drop and Brad caught him with punches to the gut and we have a slugfest. Brad comes out on top with DiBiase begging away in the corner but he would eat a backdrop/high kneelift before a sleeper hold. DiBiase would run Brad into the corner head first again breaking the hold and DiBiase would fall to the floor. DiBiase would grab Brad’s right leg and wrapped it around the post a couple of times to setup the figure-four which he locks in and Brad cries out in pain submitting. This is a definite nomination and much better than their house match. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Tim Horner (1/16/85) Squash.
