Posted June 2Jun 2 comment_6030646 Hulk Hogan & Mr. T vs. Paul Orndorff & Roddy Piper (Wrestlemania I; 3/31/85) - So, Loss had this rated 4 stars and I wanted to watch it again for consideration for the set. As a kid, the spectacle with Muhammad Ali, Liberace, the Rockettes, Billy Martin… it was all nuts. Even 40 years later, it feels special. There are so many details I had forgotten over the years. I remember Piper riding Mr. T early but didn’t remember T and his hip toss, bodyslams and offense. I didn’t remember Ali clearing the ring. I didn’t remember Piper hitting Hogan with a chair on the outside. I don’t remember the heels working over Hogan for so long. I remember the finish as if it happened yesterday. I didn’t remember the faces talking to Orndorff after the match as he realizes Piper left him for dead. This is so surreal sitting through this as a 50-year-old man. So many sloppy moments. So many weird moments. But no matter what, an amazing spectacle. Yeah, I think this needs a nomination.
