"The Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich vs. "Gentleman" Chris Adams (1/21/85)

 

Kerry starts punching early and hits an awesome discus punch sending Adams flying over the top rope to the floor. Adams would get his revenge though after a couple of leapfrogs he hits a fucking AWESOME Superkick that would send Kerry to the floor. Adams would go down to the floor after Kerry trying to post him but Kerry would reverse with a bodyslam to the floor. Adams would get back in but Kerry would lock in a sleeper hold but Adams would get out of it eventually by running Kerry into the corner. Adams starts firing shots at Kerry but misses a running shoulder smash into the turnbuckle. Adams would duck a clothesline though and got his own sleeper hold on Kerry who tried to fight up but Adams would take him down by the hair and tights. Kerry would pick him up and would run him into the corner where he would nail Adams with the discus punch and Adams would fall off the second rope to the floor. Kerry would catch Adams as he got back in the ring with a slam but missed a diving body press when Adams got his knees up. Adams would get a nearfall after a bodyslam/diving knee combo then delivered another even more FUCKING AWESOME Superkick on Kerry coming out of the corner. Adams would pick Kerry up though and suplexed him instead of going for the pin and then climbed up top but missed a diving body press. Kerry would then lock in the Iron Claw but Adams would get to the ropes and to the floor. Adams would roll back in and hit a high kneelift on Kerry but would miss a clothesline and this time Kerry would get the Iron Claw on Adams again but Adams would run to the ropes and tossed Kerry over for the DQ. Even with the screwy finish I liked this match just as much if not more than their Superdome match and this is a solid DVD pick.

This was alot of fun, and Adams has insanely great superkicks, but man was that a shitty finish, and I think it doesn't make the cut based on crappy finish. Still I would like to see what Will thinks. For Adams v. Von Erich I prefer the Kevin v. Adams match with all the Van Damniatiors

Yeah, the finish sucked. I don't think this makes the cut. First of all, they had better matches in World Class. Then that finish kind of killed any goodwiull the match had going for it. There are tons of matches on this set with bad finishes but usually those matches are good enough or have a payoff that make it worth it. This isn't one of those.
