The Brainbusters vs. The Rockers (Boston 3/18/89)
Rockers interview before the match. Rockers control the first ten minutes of the match. Great gaga like Tully dancing after an arm drag only to eat three arm drags. We get the double super kick spot. Arn getting knocked loopy where he reaches for a tag when nobody is there. The double arm rope spot. NO matter how hard they try, the Busters can’t get the advantage. Tully tries for a tag so Marty just thrust kicks Arn off the apron. Nice. Cool spot where Marty gets Tully in a figure 4. Shawn hooks one on Arn. Then the heels rake the eyes of the opposite Rocker to break them up. They turn the tide with the double team stun gun we have seen before. Busters keep working the neck including choking with a rope in the corner and a bottom rope slingshot. We get a great leg scissor counter where Arn slingshots Marty into the corner where Tully greets Marty with a fist. Marty stays in peril and takes a huge bump missing a leap in the corner and flying over and hitting the ring post Sgt. Slaughter style. Marty desperately doing hope spots to try and turn the tide is awesome. Marty is putting in work! Finally, Shawn tags in and it doesn’t last long before all hell breaks loose, Shawn does a super splash off the top but Arn pulls the ref out and gets the DQ. This was awesome. Let’s compare to MSG but this was my favorite match between the two teams so far. EASY NOMINATION.
