Choose the wrestler who you think belongs more in a tournament of the greatest of the promotion from 1985 to 2005. Please do not factor their work in other companies into your decision. Voting will end Sunday at 12:00 CST. Please provide your answer with a mere name on the first line, and if you choose to elaborate, do so after making your pick. Thank you.

Valentine by default, if nothing else.

Muraco's prime was up by 1985, as he was basically one of Bob Orton's running buddies after Piper went face and then got fired in 1988.

Valentine, OTOH, was the IC champ in 1985 and, after losing that belt, won the tag titles with Brutus Beefcake, which he held until early 1986.

Greg Valentine.

Muraco really didn't do anything in this era, Valentine was a really underrated heel and I-C champ. Also a tag champ, and continued to put on decent matches long after Muraco was gone.

PLease give me the feuds or matches that Valentine had that are worth seeing from this time period because I would love to track them down.

Also, Valentine was part of Rhythym and Blues. *barfs*

Hammer had some great matches with Tito Santana around this time, including a cage match where he lost the title back to Tito. (This was in an NWA-style chain-link cage, not the blue-bar monstrosity)

It was in 85 because Valentine had the IC title at Wrestlemania 1 and lost the belt back to Tito later that year, before he teamed with Beefcake.

Greg Valentine.

If we extended the beginning of the years back by about 5, it would be a tougher call, but Muraco did nothing notable in the late 80s, aside from moving somewhat far in the WM IV tournament. Hammer had some fun feuds at the time.

It's not so much that Valentine had a great run as it is that he had a better one than Don freakin' Muraco after 1985. But, if we're looking at peak feuds, Valentine/Santana totally obliterates Muraco/Steamboat, which was shorter, didn't have matches that were as good and wasn't for a title.

You gotta remember, this is a *WWF*list. Only 5-10 people we vote for are going to have a whole lot of good matches under their belt.

Valentine. As has been said he wins by default and was a solid midcard heel, while Murraco was declining rapidly and was out of the company by the end of 88. Valentine stuck around until 91 or so before heading off to WCW to team with Terry Taylor. Valentine also came back for the 94 RR, they never brought Muracco back for anything except for HoF ceromonies after they turfed him out.

Greg Valentine

As others have stated, post-1985, Muraco did nothing of note outside of a feud with Ricky Steamboat, and getting hooked up with Superstar Billy Graham.

Valentine had a long IC Title run, a tag title run, a heat magnet for a manager, and was a pretty credible heel until 1991.
