Posted June 8Jun 8 comment_6031000 PAT PATTERSON vs JOHNNY RODZ (06/28/1980; WWF All Star Wrestling; 00:11:43) - Rodz is surprisingly vicious early on and playing King of the Mountain, abusing Pat on the outside. He throws Pat on the table and throws a chair at him. Damn. Another chair shot. He grabs Pat’s head and hits the table again. Pat grabs Rodz leg and then punches Rodz and sends him across the table. Pat grabs a chair but swings and misses. Damn, this has been wild. Johnny with the foreign object! Ref doesn’t see it. Rodz takes off the corner pad and tries to ram Pat into it but Pat hits Rodz in the corner twice and Pat still only gets two!!! A body slam gets two when Rodz gets his foot on the bottom rope. Pat is pissed and starts choking Rodz. More foreign object shenanigans and Rodz charges head first into the top turnbuckle. Pat choking him again. Rodz fights off using the object. This is missing blood. This match needs blood to be an easy nomination. Rodz posing during a count when Pat is outside. Great spot where Rodz misses a dropkick and lands on the ropes. Pat pounces and beats him down for a two count. Ab stretch but Rodz grabs a rope. Rodz sends Pat outside again with headbutts. Pat sneaks behind Rodz and hits an O’Connor roll for the pin. Damn, I was not expecting this match. SOLID NOMINATION, especially for a 1980 TV match.
August 3Aug 3 comment_6033094 PAT PATTERSON vs JOHNNY RODZ (06/28/1980; WWF All Star Wrestling; 00:11:43) Watching the TV so far, Patterson and Rodz have had quite a few matches against each other and it seems they’ve gotten rougher as they’ve gone along (to the point one of the post match interviews was Bruno asking Patterson about how tough an opponent Rodz was). Not surprised at Rodz escalating thins here based on that trend. Rodz is pretty resilient here and takes some nutty bumps. Agree with a middle to solid nomination, this could represent an under the radar rivalry that played out in their matches on tv.
