I really liked the early part of this match with JYD working scientific because you didn’t see that much from him. II popped some great knees early on to setup his offense. JYD being a total gentleman early on helping II back in the ring was so great you would think he would’ve learned from DiBiase turning on him. JYD would pop some great punches though on II before hitting the big Thump for a nearfall with II getting his feet in the ropes. II would grab the ropes to prevent another Thump and both men went crashing to the floor. II would help JYD up this time but would load up his knee and caught JYD clean with the Million Dollar Kneelift. II would roll JYD over and covered but on the 2 count, JYD raised his shoulder up by accident then couldn’t reach his foot to the rope so II dragged him around and covered again this time for the 3 count for the controversial finish that Will talked about. I think this match does have enough for nomination because there was some really good work here especially by JYD who was starting to go downhill and should move forward to the next round because it does have great historical significance.
November 19, 200717 yr comment_5424173 What Phil and Tom said... Phil... This was super fun, as we have scientific wrestling JYD, and Wrestling II playing subtle grumpy heel. Not actually good, as both guys look a little shot at this point, so it doesn't make a DVD. I do like all the spots around the clean breaks and the loaded knee lift. Tom... I liked this way more then Phil and thought about nominating it for a set. II subtle heel stuff was really great. The finish was kind of fucked up as II hits loaded knee lift and goes for pin. JYD's legs don't appear to be anywhere near ropes. but ref says something, so II just moves JYD away from ropes and pins him for three. Felt like a blown finish wich is only reason I wouldn't nominate this. I was going to include this on the extras disc and that is probably where it will stay. I'll watch it again to see if we need a tiebreaker.
November 19, 200717 yr comment_5424178 Nope, this stays on the extras. For such a huge match, it felt like a TV match at the arena and the finish still hurts it even moreso than something like Jake-Slater where the match was even better than this.
