Posted July 7, 201213 yr comment_5509487 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsWraxC0Ttg This is worth nominating for Andre alone as he is really awesome in this match. You pretty much get the full spectrum of Andre the worker as you get fun comedy spots, spots build around his size, surprising athleticism, one really huge bump to the floor off of a Duncum knee lift, Andre selling the fucking shit out of a nervehold by writhing around in pain like he's having a seizure, and a sweet double team finish with Patterson locking Duncum in the figure-four while Andre crushed him with a splash. Some fun stooging from Patera here too who was awesome at this point and had good chemistry with Andre. Not an out of the park match, but a ton of fun.
July 8, 201213 yr comment_5509577 I really enjoyed this too. Andre was great, and I am hoping we can dig up more early 80's Andre for this set. Liked the heel team too, bumped well and worked stiff, some of Duncum's knee drops were great. That finish was awesome. Feels like a set kind of match
July 9, 201213 yr comment_5509686 Andre the Giant & Pat Patterson vs. "Big Bad" Bobby Duncum & Ken Patera (3/24/80) Fun seeing the future Black & Blue Express teaming here. I loved the Patterson crawling through Andre's legs to clock Patera spot a lot. This was an Andre tour de force for the time here as you got his comedy spots, athletic moving around, taking big bump, and selling punishment. Andre is someone who I hope we can change the meme for on this set because before he got old and injured he could fucking work and this match proves it. He would actually work the first 8 minutes of this match before tagging in Patterson. Patterson was fun working over Duncum's leg before Andre would come in and sit on Duncum with Patterson climbing on his neck. Andre would then get up with Patterson still on his fucking neck and it was like a chicken fight in the ring. Amazing shit. Patera would cheapshot Patterson allowing the heels to take control with Andre working the corner very well. Patterson would take some good punishment before tagging Andre back in with him taking it to the heels leading to a fun finish with Patterson locking on the figure-four while Andre hit a big splash to get the win. Very fun match and this moves forward fairly easily.
July 9, 201213 yr comment_5509689 He could work after he got old and injured too. Go watch the 88-9 stuff I nominated
July 9, 201213 yr comment_5509690 Yeah but it was different style of working as he used his brains and tricks rather than athleticism. I always dug Andre but there are lots of people who thought he was god awful at the end.
February 18, 201312 yr comment_5535939 I really enjoyed this. Andre really was great here. From the stuff he did in the ring. To the personality he showed. I thought the heel team especially Patera made great foils for him. Patterson had some good stuff to boot, but the energy level in the match dropped when Andre was out. A low end to solid nomination.

They try to double team Andre but Andre noggin knocks them. Andre Great spot as Patera and Andre face off and Patterson goes through Andre’s legs, punches Patera and disappears. Really fun stuff so far. Duncum comes off the ropes and kicks Andre who goes flying out of the ring. Patera and Duncum have Andre in peril. Patera has that nerve hold on but come on, Afa just gave us a 10 minute nerve hold demonstration. OK, it didn’t last long. Andre tags Pat who rams Patera’s leg into the post as he’s in the corner. Then Andre sits on him and then Pat sits on Andre’s shoulders. AWESOME. Andre stand sup and Pat is on his shoulders threatening Duncum to a game of chicken. Love it. Pat is now in and he is in peril. HE has a bandage on his head and why he is not bleeding buckets, I don’t know. The peril section is not that exciting and these heels are not very dynamic. So, Andre chases Patera around the ring (As the 2 illegal men). Patera leaves and as Andre leaves, knees Duncum right in the head. Andre gets the hot tag and destroys Duncum then has a bear hug on Patera. Finish was fun but corny as Pat has Duncum in a figure four and the ref is checking but Andre gets fed up and gives a HUGE splash for the pin. No tag or anything. This was so much fun but had obvious flaws. MIDDLE NOMINATION.

The match is more interesting when Andre is worked over than when Patterson is worked over. The finish is a bit weird, but it’s because Patterson is the illegal man and the ref allows the figure four to be put on Duncum before Andre does his splash. I’ll give a low to middle nom, the peril section with Patterson does drag this down a bit from solid territory. But it's a grerat showcase of Andre.
