BOB BACKLUND vs KEN PATERA (07/26/1980; WWF Philadelphia Spectrum; 00:22:31)
-    Gorilla Monsoon is the guest referee. Slow start where Bob gets the better of Ken and he takes a break. Then Ken takes over, tosses Bob out and tosses him over the railing into the crowd. Back inside Ken is taking it to Bob and I am loving all of his offense. Bob punches his way back and does a nasty boot scrape to the eyes. Ken then gives Bob the low blow and takes off his boot. As the ref is keeping him form using the boot, Bob grabs the boot and attacks Ken with it. Awesome!!!! That ref is on the take lol. Ken is now wrestling without a boot!!! These guys are battling. An atomic drop sends Ken into the ring post. Bob with his silly stretching makes an abdominal stretch interesting. The ref keeps yanking Ken in every time he goes under the ropes. Sick spot… Bob is grabbing Ken’s feet and crotches him on the bottom rope. Ken is fighting back. Gorilla keeps Ken form clobbering on the apron and when they go back, they start choking each other. Finally, Bob is choking the shit out of Ken. Oh shit, after Patera was sent outside, he grabs the microphone stand and just levels Gorilla with it for the DQ. Bob grabs it and hits Ken once before it went flying outside. I love this match more than the January match. No resting. Huge moments. Ken wrestled half the match without a boot… OH SHIT, Gorilla and Patera are brawling after the match while I was writing this up. Gorilla sends Patera packing. EASY NOMINATION. 

BOB BACKLUND vs KEN PATERA (07/26/1980; WWF Philadelphia Spectrum; 00:22:31)

Really liked Monsoon as the ref here and there were some memorable moments throughout (the boot stuff, Gorilla just dragging Patera back in, the face Pater made when Backlund started choking him near the end) mixed with the usual solid brawling between Backlund and Patera. I don’t blame Patera for attacking the ref there though. And now Gorilla and Patera have a brief skirmish.

Solid to strong nomination.
