Posted June 12Jun 12 comment_6031196 LARRY ZBYSZKO vs IVAN PUTSKI (07/26/1980; WWF Philadelphia Spectrum; 00:13:05) - Shit, this was fucking hot starting off. These guys were brawling and Ivan was slamming him on tables and the apron and beating the shit of him outside. Please bleed! Oh, Ivan is fighting Larry on the apron and Larry’s foot gets tied in the ropes so Ivan is just stomping on him. I thought it was about to slow down with an Ivan bear hug but he picked hi p and rammed him into the turnbuckle. Then he starts hammering and kicking the back. Fucking awesome. Larry fights back and violently rams Ivan’s head into the turnbuckles but Ivan slams Larry’s head then beats his chest like a fucking silverback and rams Larry’s back into the corner until Larry falls out again. Ivan was on the outside of the apron and Larry inside and Ivan gave him a bearhug and would not let go. Ivan was a madman. Even after the match is over, Ivan goes over and punts Larry who is helpless in the corner. At one point, Putski yelled at a fan, “I’m gonna kill him” Ivan was DQed for not breaking the hold. Ivan is pissed. This was a SOLID NOMINATION for a 5 minute match. These guys are natural rivals. This isn’t Death Match awesome but awesome in its own right.
August 4Aug 4 comment_6033124 LARRY ZBYSZKO vs IVAN PUTSKI (07/26/1980; WWF Philadelphia Spectrum; 00:13:05) This was mainly all Putski and he was out for Zbyszko’s head. So much so he gets dq’d for not breaking the bearhug while being in the ropes. After the match, Putski grabs the house mic and dares Larry to come back and fight him like man. “You’re yellow! I’ll kil you next time, boy! I’m not finished with you yet! I’ll whip him like a dog!” Great set up for the Texas Death Match. This was fun, I’ll say low to middle nom for now, the brevity works against it.
