Posted July 16, 201213 yr comment_5510372 The actual date of this is 7/23/84. This was very, very good. Tito won the opening exchange with some sweet arm drags. Both guys have some really detailed and solid wrist lock/arm bar exchanges. Orton gets the advantage after catching Tito following a leap frog with a nasty shot to the back. Bob works on Tito's back for a large portion of the match but uses a variety of stuff to make it pretty interesting like a big powerslam, nasty one armed back breaker, some vicious knees and stomps, and a really awesome suplex cradle to looked like it hurt like hell. Tito kept on firing back occasionally which allowed for some nice cut off spots including a stiff throat shot that Tito sold tremendously with foaming of the mouth and all. The pacing was really solid in the closing stretch as both guys showed their fatigue but didn't oversell it. There was a great abdominal stretch reversal exchange and a really good Tito near fall with a small package. At one point both guys just threw their fists at each other while on their knees gasping for air. The two fought in a corner where Bob gave Tito a front atomic drop. They both stiffed each other for a minute and the bell rang for a draw. They continued to brawl after the match. This was paced really well and I never lost interest. There was some pretty nifty and stiff stuff included as well.
December 9, 201311 yr comment_5575572 I agree on the solid nomination. This was a really good match with a lot of neat things going on. Devon is spot on in the detailed armbar stuff. They really made this work matter, and the crowd ate it up. Devon does sum up this stuff really well. The match is laid out and the work is really engaging. I think for the most part they did a great job, though it got stagnant for a minute or 2. Overall it was great.

June 19Jun 19 comment_6031485 TITO SANTANA vs BOB ORTON (07/23/1984; WWF MSG; New York, NY; 00:23:25) - No stalling here. They start off right away with some Tito arm drags into an arm bar. After a hip toss and pin attempt, Bob regroups. Now Bob wants to hook the arm and they battle for control. This is great fighting over control of the arm. Bob slings Tito in the corner and misses a charge. Tito just starts stomping on him and hits a 2nd rope forearm. Wish he had a cast on that arm. HE is taking that arm and yanking it before settling down. Both guys have been awesome early on. Orton makes the ropes and Tito lets him off easy. Dumbass. Tito leap frog does him no good because Bob just kicks him in the gut then has a relentless attack, stomping and [punching and a falling forearm. Orton powerslam for two and the crowd cheers for Tito. Bob is really great at randomly hitting a dude in between moments. Bob hits a one-armed backbreaker for a two count. The crowd is rumbling for Tito after he punches Bob in the face and both guys fall back. Tito wants to come back but Bob rakes the eyes. Bob gets a modified fisherman suplex for two. This has been full of peaks and valleys for both guys. The crowd keeps rumbling for Tito but Bob keeps cutting him off. Tito fights back and he and Bob go back and forth. Bob reverses an ab stretch and then Tito hip tosses out. They are giving everything they have. Tito small package counter for two. He goes for a dropkick and misses. Bob drops a knee for two. Great sequence where Bob hits the ring post, Tito punches him the gut and Bob clotheslines himself on the top rope before Tito flips him over for a two count near fall. WOW. The crowd rumbling is the greatest thing about this match. Tito punching in the corner countered by an atomic drop. Bob goes to drop an elbow but Tito lifts his fist and nails him right in the face. The bell rings for the 20-minute time limit draw but this was amazing. This is a Tito draw that needs to be on the set. SLAM DUNK NOMINATION. The fist to the face was a great way to cap off the match.
