ANDRE THE GIANT vs BIG JOHN STUDD (08/18/1985; WWF Maple Leaf Gardens; 00:20:19)
Both guys active early. For a brief moment, they thought they were Bob Backlund and Greg Valentine, working body parts and holds. Then they realized they were giants and Andre starts hammering Studd. Andre settles into a bear hug and when it is broken, Andre grabs his hair and just chokes him with this psychotic look on his face. Studd bails but decides to come back to the ring. He takes Andre down and keep him controlled with arm bars and hammer locks. Studd is closer to Muraco than Murdoch when it comes to working an arm. Andre isn’t exactly Steamboat on the mat either. Andre counters with headbutts but Studd kicks him and Andre drops. After some elbow drops (which Studd was using as a finisher)< Heenan gave Studd some scissors. The crowd goes crazy when the scissors come out. ANDRE BITES HIS FOREARM. Andre is punting Studd, He punts Heenan. HE gives Studd a huge bodyslam and starts cutting Studd’s hair. King Kong Bundy comes down for the save but Andre fights them off but they kneecap Andre and Studd holds Andre’s legs as Bundy gives multiple big splashes. The jobber patrol comes out to save. Y’know, it should have been Hogan making the save. There were some slow parts that test your patience but this was really fun and memorable overall. SOLID NOMINATION.
