Posted June 23Jun 23 comment_6031722 HART FOUNDATION vs BRITISH BULLDOGS (01/18/1986; WWF Capital Centre; 00:21:54) - Neither team getting an advantage but the crowd comes UNGLUED when DK and Bret do a shoulder tackle, drop down, leap frog INTO A SLINGSHOT INTO THE CORNER. This was a great looking spot that I had to rewind it a couple of times. From this point, we get the solid matchup between these two with one big difference… the crowd is 100% invested. That spot triggered crowd interest for the entirety of the match. Every near fall, Anvil’s bear hug, every double team during the peril. Anvil hooks in a face lock and DK is reaching for the hot tag and the crowd is HOT! Davey has enough and chases Bret around the ring but as the ref is distracted, Anvil just chokes the life out of DK in the corner. Perfect. The next time they attempt a hot tag, Bret distracts the ref, Bret holds DK while Anvil throws a dropkick AND HITS BRET! The Crowd went nuts! This peril section has been intense and awesome AND it contains three front face locks. Great transition to the hot tag. DK is tied in the ropes. Bret runs at him and crotches himself so Davey gets the tag. Davey powerslams Anvil but ref says it is the wrong guy. Davey pins Bret and gets a near 3 count DK with a nasty clothesline on Bret and another kick out. Missile dropkick and the foot on the rope saves. All 4 guys brawling. Anvil being destroyed outside. Davey crotches Bret and DK hits the superplex and knocks both guys out. The dumbest referee of all-time forces Davey back to the corner as Anvil puts Bret on top. That ending puts a bad taste in your mouth but it is the best match I have ever seen between the two... specifically after the early slingshot spot. SLAM DUNK NOMINATION. I don’t think I am just in a good mood. I really want you guys to watch this to see if it is as good as I think it is.
