Posted June 25Jun 25 comment_6031782 Glamour Girls vs. Velvet McIntyre & Angie Minelli (WWF TV Columbus, OH 3/11/87) - The Glamour Girls get ambushed to start. Leilani Kai bumping big for Velvet. The faces did some nice double-teaming Velvet was really displaying energetic and fast offense. It all worked because of Kai’s bumping. WILD spot as Martin whips Velvet and Velvet does a rotating flying cross body that made the crowd pop and got a 2 count. Velvet and Kai do a test of strength and great control by Kai as she monkey-flips her over and then hooks her in a surfboard. Velvet fights back and gets a nasty Victory roll where she spikes Kai on her head. She tries the rotating cross body again but Kai answers with a back-breaker counter. AWESOME. Martin comes in and does a hair whip. Now Velvet is in peril with Kai giving her a wild dangling choke off the apron while Martin distracts the ref. Velvet escapes a Kai pin attempt with a bridge and drop kick but still gets pounded down. Damn, the Girls double team where Kai lifts Velvet and tosses her on Martin’s knee for a gutbuster. DAMN. They are just teasing the crowd. Velvet almost made a tag and Martin just runs and knees her in the face. Great offense form Martin and the crowd is hot when a miscommunication spot allows Velvet to get the tag. Minelli is cleaning house on both heels. All four women end up in the ring and as the ref is not looking, Martin lifts Minelli up and powerbombs her through the mat. Kai gets the pin and the three. GREAT MATCH! Velvet stayed in too long and for good reason… her partner wasn’t ready for prime time. STRONG NOMINATION.
