Posted June 25Jun 25 comment_6031784 Hart Foundation vs. Rougeau Brothers (Boston 3/7/87) - Nobody is in a rush to begin. Bret wants a test of strength. Ray wants to throw hands. They do a test of strength. Bret tries to put Ray’s hand son the mat and stomp but misses, Ray sweeps the legs and slaps Bret who is forced to bail and regroup. Ray and Anvil lock up and Ray bounces off the ropes and levels Anvil with a forearm. Double arm wringer from the Rougeaus. Hitman and Ray square off and after a missed elbow drop, Ray is able to control Bret s arm. Hitman prevents an O’Connor roll but Ray hits a back kick and punch to send him down. They decide it is best to work the leg of Bret and do some double team leg offense. There is some nastiness in the Rougeaus today… instead of falling for a monkey flip, Jacques just kicks Bret in the hamstring. Add that to the slap earlier and the sick forearm. Great spot where Ray prevents the knee in the back off an Irish whip but Anvil ambushes him from behind. Ray is in peril. Nice spot where Ray is in a chin lock, he bridges up but Bret reaches I and punches him in the stomach to drop him. Ray gets shot off, hits a sunset flip on Anvil but Bret tags in as he is pinning. Ray doesn’t see it and Bret takes over. When Ray is thrown outside, Danny Davis takes over when the ref doesn’t see it. Great double teaming by the Harts inside. Ray was in a bearhug and when Bret comes in, follows with a back breaker. Miscommunication from the Harts has the Garden erupting. Ray gets the tag. Jacques nails both Harts. NASTY CHOP from Jacques. Laying in those shots. Damn! Jacques hooks in a rolling short arm scissor hold. All 4 men inside the ring now. Great collision spot and the Rougeaus set up for the Senton. Danny Davis even got nailed and the Rougeaus get the senton. Anvil breaks it up. Small package gets reversed by Danny Davis when the referee was not looking and the Harts steal a win. I don’t know how many of these matches will end up on the set but this is in contention for best match between the two teams. The shtick ,stiff shots, great face in peril section and hot ending had the crowd invested from the beginning which is rare. I think the more Hart Foundation stuff I see the more I am appreciating them as a team. STRONG NOMINATION.
