Posted June 26Jun 26 comment_6031807 Hart Foundation vs. Islanders (Philly 3/14/87) - Haku unloads his island kung-fu on Anvil and he slithers out of the ring. Anvil really bumping around for Haku (dropkick) and Tama (headbutt). HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! Haku drops down and stand sup and takes Bret’s kick off with a kick. FUCK. Bret sold it like someone shot him in the eye. Deservedly so. Tama has a wishbone on Bret and instead of a headbutt or stomp, does a butt drop on his sternum. Nice. Bret is bumping great for both guys. Tama chops him out of the ring. Jimmy Hart consoles Bret and when he comes back in the ring, he immediately tags out. Tama taunts Neidhart because he is too quick and he tags out to Haku. The Islanders pick up with the great double team stuff on the Anvil. I love the wrist lock from Tama but also stepping on Neidhart’s face. A double chop sends Neidhart flying. Like the Rougeaus match I saw earlier, Haku blocked a knee in the back from Bret but gets ambushed by Jim. Patented Hart offense and dastardly double teams with a small variation. Jim drops Tam throat first on the rope and Bret walks over and steps on his throat from the apron. NICE! Tama fights out of a chin lock but a back elbow sends him over the top to the floor. Back inside, the Hart’s work him over some more but a double shoulder tackle knocks out booth guys. Great sequence where Tama picks up Jim but Bret dropkicks him on top but as they fall, Tama rolls over on top and gets the near fall instead. It looked so much better than I described it. Tama gets the hot tag and Haku beats up both guys. He beats up Danny Davis too. In the confusion, Tama hits a flying body press on Bret but no ref. Davis flips the pin over and the Harts get the win. I am used to that finish so it doesn’t bother me but I can see how someone would hate it. Still, this was a blast. STRONG NOMINATION.
