Posted June 26Jun 26 comment_6031809 Hulk Hogan & Roddy Piper vs. Paul Orndorff & Kamala (Philly 3/14/87) - It started off really hot with Piper and Hogan clearing the ring.IT calmed down as Hogan and Piper were working armbars on Orndorff but I think it was to establish they could work together. Then we get to the shtick and Hogan and Piper doing cool moves and popping the crowd with their antics. Piper literally dragged Orndorff to tag in Kamala so he could eye poke him. Then he tags Hogan to slap his belly and the two guys cannot get Kamala down. Piper tags Hogan in to do a double boot and the big guy finally goes down. Kamal uses his weight to sumo him to the heel corner. The ref is distracted by Hogan so Orndorff chokes him with the tag rope. Then Kamala taunts Hogan so the ref is distracted again and Kamala chokes him and then Orndorff just comes in delivering forearms and elbows. Piper’s throat must be raw by now. Orndorff sleeper as the crowd chants” Roddy”! Great double team work. I thought this would be a guaranteed brawl but this has very much been a traditional tag. Wow. Piper keeps missing the tag or the ref keeps missing the tag. Hogan breaks up a pin after the Kamala splash. Orndorff with the nerve hold on the neck. I hate the hold but the work before doesn’t make me mind so much here. Piper is boot-scooting to the corner. Piper goes between the legs and Hogan is hulking up. He knocks Kamala off the ropes. He rams Orndorff into the corners. He chokes Orndorff. Fucking idiot camera man. All four guys in the ring. Orndorff levels Piper with Kamala holding him. Orndorff holds Piper and Kamala chops Paul and then Hogan pins Paul. Wonky finish aside, this was a ton of fun. SOLID NOMINATION.
