Posted June 26Jun 26 comment_6031818 HULK HOGAN vs KING KONG BUNDY-CAGE (04/07/1986; WWF WrestleMania II PPV; 00:29:45) - Mean Gene with Hulk Hogan in the locker room / Feud Recap. - King Kong Bundy & Bobby Heenan Interview. - Ah Tommy Lasorda with that piece of shit Ricky Schroeder. - Bundy and Hogan slug it out early. Hogan uses Bundy’s own singlet against him and chokes. Hogan is laying in the shots. He can’t get Bundy down. Damn, by the time Bundy fought Bigelow, he must have been 100 lbs. lighter. Nice… Bundy literally stepping on Hogan’s head. He starts walking out of the door and Hogan grabs him. Bundy rips off Hogan’s rib tape and chokes him with it. Awesome. He ties Hogan to the rope by the tape. Hogan frees himself and claws Bundy’s face and brings him back in. Bundy gets rammed in to the cage and the crowd lights up. Bundy is now cut. Hogan attacks the cut. He rams Bundy again and he just bounces off the cage. And a third time. Hogan climbs the cage and chokes Bundy on the top rope with his foot. This match resonates a completely different way as an adult. Fuuuuckkk. Hogan is punching that forehead. Hogan tries to slam Bundy and Bundy falls on top. Bundy tries to escape again. Bundy grabs the rib tape and chokes Bundy to keep him form escaping. Bundy whips Hogan and lands the avalanche and big splash. Bundy is also selling the impact. Bundy starts crawling out. Hogan holding on for dear life to his leg. Back inside Bundy gets another avalanche but the Hulk up… Hogan whips Bundy and body slams Bundy. Big leg drop and Hogan climbs to the top. Bundy grabs Hogan and kicks Bundy off the ropes. Hogan climbs over and Bundy is crawling to the door but Hogan is out and the crowd erupts. Heenan was running from Hogan and goes inside the cage. HE tries to close the door but Hogan won’t let him. Bundy is outside a bloody mess. Heenan gets caught and bounced up against the cage. An atomic drop sends Heenan out of the cage and the crow goes home happy. I have not watched this as an adult and I definitely have mot paid attention to it beat for beat. I have always loved the Bulldogs match and it is the one I went back to as an adult. However, watch this match and try to keep the 4 years of dismissive reports on this match out of your head and watch what they actually do. It’s a fucking war. Bloody, messy violent war. SLAM DUNK NOMINATION.
