Ted DiBiase vs. Jake Roberts (MSG 11/25/89)

-          Jake and Virgil ambush Jake but he hits a double clothesline and cleans house. They start slugging and Jake almost hits a DDT and Ted bails. Inside, Jake controls the arm, throwing that knee in. He has that wrist lock in and twists the arm and gets punched in the face. DiBiase finally in control and stomps on Jake and drops some elbow points. Ted grinds this to a halt with a front face lock. Jake escapes but is still hurt and gets an ax handle for his troubles. Ted with lifting knees into Jake’s face. Jake hit Ted with a spinning neck breaker… then a backdrop. Then a Manhattan drop. Jake still recovering. DAMN… Jake repeatedly drives his knees into the back of Ted’s head on the mat. Virgil gets on the apron and Jake punches him to the floor. This is followed by a nice short-armed clothesline. The crowd really wants the DDT. Fuck, Virgil comes in and ambushes Jake from behind. This match built so well. The bad finish puts a bad taste in your mouth. On the plus side, Ted is now driving his knees into Jake’s head. Ted grabs some money and slaps Jake with it. Jake fights off Virgil and then runs Ted off backstage. Jake grabs Virgil who gets dropped with the DDT and the crowd goes nuts for Damian. STRONG NOMINATION for the whole thing.
