Demolition vs. The Hart Foundation (9:49) (Summerslam 8/29/88)

-          Harts looking good early with their offense. Anvil even getting a pop when he got in the ring. A knee to the back allows the Demos to take over. Not for long as an Irish whip kick allows Bret to come in. Bret ran his shoulder into the post and his arm is putty. His arm is tied in the ropes and great job from the Demos working on the arm. Shoulder breaker and spinning arm bar from Smash. Damn, hammerlock into the ring post on the outside. Crowd is getting restless. Bret needs to rally. HE hits a running clothesline. He tags Anvil but the ref didn’t see it. Crowd is into it now. Smash charges into Bret’s knee and Bret gets the tag. Anvil getting a standing ovation. I love the slingshot to the outside on to Smash. Powerslam gets two and the crowd bit on that fall. Battering ram gets two. Ax saves a pin off a back breaker. Neidhart was nailing Fuji on the apron and distracting the ref. Bret was going for a piledriver on Smash when Ax hits Bret with the megaphone. Damn. This may be my favorite Demolition match. No repeatedly boring rest holds. They worked on Bret’s arm in nasty fashion. Anvil may have had his finest hour with the reception from the crowd and fun offense. EASY NOMINATION.
