Posted July 3Jul 3 comment_6032159 Blue Blazer vs. Barry Horowitz (Boston 9/10/88) Barry wants a handshake but Blazer does not accept but then accepts the 2nd time. Then Barry tries to strike him but Blazer counters. Already the crowd has responded better than LA. Owen does his arm work and they popped huge for the bounce off the ropes into the arm drag. The hammerlock is my new favorite move. Barry tried a back elbow to get out of the arm bar but after a whip, and arm drag, he was back in the arm bar. Barry breaks it with a headbutt and body slam. He is getting more offense in the first three minutes than in 7 minutes of the LA match. Barry reverses the arm bar into a wrist lock but Blazer gets a headscissor takedown to get the arm bar back. Great reversals by both guys and Blazer gets an O’Connor roll for two. A dropkick sends Barry out and Blazer rallies the crowd. They are getting in to the match. Barry is selling the arm outside and jawing with the fans. Barry does the corner stall to recover. The crowd is booing him which is a big deal compared to the last match. Blazer gets a monkey flip and body slam. Back to the arm and hammerlock suplex. On the ropes, Barry shoulder blocks Blazer, whips him and nails his patented SWEET & NASTY thrust kick. Owen went flying. He does the attack on the apron to the throat followed by the slingshot on the bottom rope. Double throat chop and leg drop for two. Top rope slingshot clothesline just like LA. Sternum first whip and a great pin for a two count. Knee lift and double underhook for two. Barry’s control is beat for beat like the Los Angeles match. Including the NICE high knee to Owen’s face. Barry has cool, unorthodox pins. The stretch run is also a beat for beat except he did a leg sweep instead of a body slam before Owen threw him off. Owen gets the belly to belly and gets a Superfly splash instead of the moonsault and the crowd cheers. SO… we don’t need both but this was very good in its own right. STRONG NOMINATION for work and a better crowd but I think LA was technically better with a nastier finish. We need to decide.
