Posted July 4Jul 4 comment_6032201 Sam Houston vs. Barry Horowitz (Philly 10/10/87) - Houston dances Horowitz into a corner. That’s different. Criss cross into hip toss, back drop and arm drag. Horowitz shakes Houston’s hand. More arm drags for Barry but he transitions into a head scissors with a hair pull. Then claims to the ref that Houston pulled his hair. Nice. Horowitz does his stalling and stooging and Houston calls him a chicken. Cross body and arm drag and Sam hooks the arm again. Sunset flip and Barry stalls again. Offers a handshake… and knee to the gut. Nasty slam by Barry who goes to the top and gets slammed off. Sam back to the arm. Like the Owen matches, a thrust kick turns the tide. Choking, European uppercuts, underhook suplex, leg drop… same offense. I prefer the Barry chin lock with the knee in the back. Such a small detail that makes a world of difference. Elbows to the neck, headbutt, Rude Awakening… for two. Sweet pinning combos from Barry. Houston fights out of a chin lock with an arm drag but gets trapped in another chin lock. Double knockout followed by a slugfest won by Sam. An Irish whip in the corner leads to a nasty punch that Barry bumps huge for. Great finish as Sam sets up for the bulldog countered by Barry who flips Sam, over his back. Barry demonstrates his mental superiority as Houston springs off the ropes and nails the bulldog. This was a blast but the crowd really hurt it… except for the guy who flicked Sam off after he won. That guy rules.
