Valiant & Fernandez Interview (w/ Watley head shaving clip) - No Ole & Arn Anderson Interview - Possible Extra Magnum TA & Dusty Rhodes vs. Bill Mulkey & ??? Watley, Khan & Barbarian vs. King, Champion & Kernodle - No Midnight Express Interview - Possible Extra Disc 2 Don Kernodle vs. Golden Terror - This actually went a good ten minutes of airtime and is JIP. Still, there is a reason Kernodle and Terror weren't lighting it up week after week. I don't think it is worthy of a nomination but it should be a disc I send you guys to check out. Jim Cornette Interview Ole & Arn Anderson Interview - Possible Extras Krusher Khruschev vs. Todd Champion - A good 8 minutes of airtime was given to this but Khruschev still sucks. Sam Houston vs. Tully Blanchard (JIP) - Houston gave it the old college try but Tully disposes of him. Krusher Kruschev Interview Magnum TA Interview (Possible Extra) Rock N Roll Express vs. Arn & Ole Anderson - Classic RNR tag with both guys shining and playing FIP. However, the Andersons work Morton OVER during his FIP section really making this stand out. Awesome spot where Ole is about to come of the top rope and Gibson comes out of nowhere to hit him in the midsection on his way down. This ends in a draw and was not as good as the Starrcade cage but still worthy of a nomination. Jim Cornette Interview Midnight Express vs. Dusty & Magnum (Incomplete) RNR, Magnum & Dusty singing at a concert Intro Magnum TA Interview - Possible Extras Midnight Express vs. South & Deaton Tully Blanchard Interview Hector Guerrero Interview Arn & Ole Anderson vs. Fleming & Ligon - Nothing special Jim Cornette Interview (W/ Cage match footage) - Possible Extra Ronnie Garvin vs. Tully Blanchard (Taped Fist Match (JIP) Ronnie Garvin Interview - I have to check to see if this is the same as the commercial tape. Jimmy Garvin vs. Rocky Kernodle Magnum TA vs. Golden Terror - No Disc 3 Black Bart vs. Italian Stallion - Pretty competitive match but not enough for a nomination Ivan Koloff Interview Russians Interview - Good interview Russians vs. Barber, Deaton & Simani - Squash Dusty Rhodes Interview - EXTRA Road Warriors vs. Midnight Express - Pretty good tag with the MX making the Roadies look like a million bucks. This was hurt by the Tony & Dusty voice-over commentary. IT also had a blatant DQ ending even though the MX cheated to gain the advantage earlier. I am on the fence with this one since there are so many great tags, I don't think this one will hold up. Jimmy Valiant vs. Paul Jones (JIP) (Valiant gets his head shaved) Paul Jones Interview - EXTRA Road Warriors Interview Ric Flair Interview (w/ clips of Dusty-Flair in the cage) - Both great interviews Ole & Arn Anderson Interview (Do commentary for the following match) Ron Garvin vs. Black Bart - This was pretty good also but they had matches in 1985 that were much better and I don't even know if they would be Nom worthy. Bill Dundee & Buddy Landell Interview - I can see Phil demanding this be added to the set Buddy Landell vs. George South (with B&B on commentary) Kansas Jayhawks Interview Dick Murdoch Interview Dick Murdoch vs. Bill Mulkey - I mark out for Dick Murdoch interviews and promos. I think there is only one potential Dickie match that will be on this set so we need all the interviews we can get.
March 21, 20169 yr comment_5734637 World Wide Wrestling 7/12/86Cornette & Bubba are here again as co-hosts."Pride of the Carolinas" Don Kernodle vs. Gene Ligon (7/8/86)Interesting seeing Kernodle get squash match wins this late in 1986.Bull & Valiant are out next talking about shaving Shaska bald in Charlotte on 7/5 with clips of the finish to follow. They promise to shave Paul Jones' head next. This is extra material.Tully Blanchard & The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Ole & Arn Anderson) vs. Sam Houston, Italian Stallion, & Rocky King (7/8/86)Spartanburg fans get behind the faces whenever they got some offense but the Horsemen were just too dominant here.Next we get promos from Arn, Paul Jones, Baron, Shaska, Garvin, & Precious for the 8/16 show in Philly.Shaska Whatley vs. Mark Fleming (7/8/86)I love that Shaska didn't shave his head completely as he left the patches of hair on there. Shaska finishes off Fleming quickly and Barbarian hits a diving headbutt off the top rope for good measure. Then we get clips of Magnum/Nikita from Veterans Stadium in Philly on 7/1 with Magnum on the narration and he is extra fired up. Extra material.Cornette interviews Flair next who guarantees that he will survive the Bash and that Dusty Rhodes will have to call him the greatest champion of all-time.Chief Wahoo McDaniel vs. "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal (7/8/86)Regal attacks Wahoo at the bell but he pays for that eating some serious choppage. Wahoo keeps up the pressure until Garvin runs in to make it 2-on-1. The beatdown continues until Don Kernodle runs out to make the save.Cornette then interviews Tully & Dillon next where Dillon talks about the Horsemen dominating the world even mentioning the MX.The Warlord vs. Thunderfoot (7/8/86)Thunderfoot loses in seconds.Cornette interviews the Russians next and they talk about Nikita having the edge in the Best of 7 series at the moment."Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Todd Champion (7/8/86)This is an interesting TV match watching Flair work the rookie. Flair wins very quickly with the Figure-Four Leglock.Next we get promos from Valiant, Wahoo, & RnR for the 8/16 show in Philly.Cornette now has his MX with him and they talk about his mama not being able to call into the show and then we get clips of Dusty getting beaten up by Big Bubba on 7/5 in Charlotte. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Vernon Deaton & Mike Simani (7/8/86)Another match that ends in seconds.Cornette & MX then cut a promo when Baby Doll shows up with Warlord where she challenged both MX to go out there and face the Warlord. They all go down to the ring and Warlord overpowers both MX before Bubba KOed him with some quarters. Bubba then gets ready for more when America's Team shows up with RnR and the heels all leave the ring. Great angle and a definite extra.Championship Wrestling 7/19/86This starts off with an old promo by Cornette from the 6/28/86 episode of WCW with the Baby Doll workout video. Extra material because this has the Motley Crue "Looks That Kill" playing while the WWE Network version doesn't.Ivan & Nikita Koloff, & Krusher Khruschev vs. Vernon Deaton, Rocky King, & Gene Ligon (6/28/86)Krusher has his new black and red tights with Ivan & Nikita soon to follow. The jobbers try but fail here as the Russians just brutalize them.Next we get clips of Baby Doll attacking Cornette from Raleigh on 7/6.Magnum then comes out and talks about being down 3-0 to Nikita in the Best of 7 series and how he has no choice but to fight back. This is extra material.Tully Blanchard vs. Mark Fleming (7/15/86)Tully looks impressive here and he wins KOing Fleming with the taped fist then sits on him.The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Vernon Deaton & Gene Ligon (7/15/86)Deaton eats a Double Dropkick in no time.Cornette interviews Flair next where he talks about how great JCP is and that the Four Horsemen and MX dominate the greatest promotion in the world."Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. Randy Mulkey (7/15/86)Garvin KO's Mulkey in the back of his head which was hilarious.Dusty & Baby Doll are out next for a promo where Dusty talks about winning the NWA Title from Flair before the Bash is over with. Dusty then said that Cornette will interview him next week."Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin vs. George South (7/15/86)Garvin toys with South before finishing him off with the Brainbuster.Bull & Valiant are out next talking about Shaska being a bald headed geek and Paul Jones on his way to becoming one.Cornette interviews the Minnesota Wrecking Crew next talking about their issues with the RnR Express.America's Team (Dusty Rhodes & Magnum TA) vs. Bill Mulkey & Mike Simani (7/15/86)A extremely rare America's Team TV match and the fans are apeshit for it. Dusty gets the diving elbow on Mulkey to win.The Barbarian, Teijho Khan, & Shaska Whatley vs. Todd Champion, Rocky Kernodle, & Rocky King (7/15/86)This is a mercy killing.Cornette & MX cut a promo next where Cornette talks about how the MX don't talk during interviews but he asks them to talk and they refuse which is great.World Championship Wrestling 7/19/86"Pride of the Carolinas" Don Kernodle vs. Golden Terror (7/16/86)This is JIP with Kernodle wins but Terror puts up a good fight.Bob Caudle is joined by Cornette and Bubba next where Cornette talks up a Bubba showdown with Dusty.Cornette interviews the Andersons next about their match later on with the RnR Express and they say the war has just begun.Krusher Khruschev vs. Todd Champion (7/16/86)During the match, David Crockett said that they want to bring WCW to every state capital in the United States....good luck with that. Champion gets a lot of offense in here on Krusher surprisingly but Krusher would prevail in the end.National Heavyweight Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Sam Houston (7/16/86)Sam is fired up and goes after Tully early and often taking him down to the mat and working a headlock. Tully keeps trying to fight back but ends up always back on the mat so he decided to slap him in the face which prompted Sam to chase him to the floor where he decked him one good time before suplexing him back in the ring. Tully would throw him chest first into the corner which allowed him to take control where he used his veteran tactics to neutralize Sam including sending him to the floor hard twice. Dillon also would use his shoe as a weapon but Houston to his credit comes back in the ring with a sunset flip for a nearfall then follows with a backslide for a nearfall. Houston know turns this into a slugfest before he eats an inverted atomic drop then the Slingshot Suplex to end the match. This was a very fun match and I'll pass it forward as a low-end nomination.Cornette interviews Krusher Khruschev next where he talks about still wanting revenge against the Roadies and that Nikita will be the US Champ.Caudle interviews Magnum TA next about his struggles in the Best of 7 series with Nikita but it isn't over yet and he will prevail in the end. Another strong Magnum promo and extra material. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn & Ole Anderson) vs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (7/16/86)RnR dominated early and they worked on Arn's nose which was great psychology as it played off the Morton injury. Gibson would get trapped in the corner and the Andersons then took control using double-teams to get the advantage. Both would take turns working over Gibson's left arm. Morton would get the hot tag and he ran wild on the Anderson's throwing some great jumping punches then hit a big missile dropkick off the top rope on Arn for a nearfall. RnR now are tagging in and out and they are focusing on Ole's left leg which was the injury that had him out for the first half of the year. Arn came in and they went to work on his left leg as well but the Andersons would finally get back on top going for Morton's nose which they worked over effectively. Morton is so good here working the FIP role as expected and the fans are on fire for him to get the tag to Gibson. Morton's desperation nearfalls were great as well and the fans bought into all of them as the time was ticking down. Gibson would jump in the ring during the last 90 seconds of the match and it became a 4-way brawl before Gibson just stayed in the ring with Tommy Young making him the legal man. We get more nearfalls as the crowd goes wild before Gibson locks on a sleeper on Arn as the bell rings for the 30:00 draw. This is a pretty damn great match and we miss around 5 minutes or so but we have more than enough to push this forward as a solid nomination.Cornette then talks about how the MX are about to successfully defend their NWA World Tag Titles against America's Team.NWA World Tag Titles: The Midnight Express ("Loverboy" Dennis Condrey & "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton) vs. America's Team (Dusty Rhodes & Magnum TA) (7/16/86)Only the first couple of minutes of the match air which is a fucking shame because this was getting awesome.World Wide Wrestling 7/26/86This starts with the top babyfaces all singing with David Allan Coe for "You Don't Even Call Me By Name" which is one of the ultimate drinking songs.Cornette is the guest host again in his wicker chair with Bubba by his side.Next we get a promo from Cornette for the 8/16 show in Philly.Magnum is with Tony next talking about the Best of 7 series and that he is fighting back and will get his title back. The Midnight Express ("Loverboy" Dennis Condrey & "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton) vs. Vernon Deaton & George South (7/22/86)South gets some offense early on but his inexperience costs him and the MX would soon destroy him and Deaton.Tully and Dillon are out next for a promo talking about the Horsemen have dominated the Bash tour especially Tully in his matches against Garvin.Hector Guerrero is with Tony next for a promo in both English and Spanish.Championship Wrestling 7/26/86The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Ole & Arn Anderson) vs. Mark Fleming & Gene Ligon (7/22/86)Fleming & Ligon try to fight but the Andersons are machines taking both men apart.Cornette & Bubba then show clips of Dusty & Bubba having a brawl in a cage match on 7/23 in Johnson City.Taped Fist Match: "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. Tully Blanchard (7/18/86)This was a helluva slugfest with both men just throwing bombs with Garvin KOing Tully but Dillon put something in Garvin's tights and Earl Hebner saw it after making the count so he DQed Garvin. This was clipped and we got a fiery promo from Garvin afterwards."Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin vs. Rocky Kernodle (7/22/86)Easy win for Garvin.Magnum TA vs. Golden Terror (7/22/86)Cornette cuts a promo on Magnum before the match and Magnum finishes off Terror quickly.Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title: Black Bart © vs. Italian Stallion (7/22/86)This was competitive but Bart won with the Texas Compactor.Next we get promos from Gibson & Magnum for the 8/16 show in Philly.Cornette interviews Ivan next about Dusty & Roadies."Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff & Krusher Khruschev vs. Ron Rossi & Mike Simani (7/22/86)Total squash.World Championship Wrestling 8/2/86David Crockett starts the show in an empty Atlanta Fulton-County Stadium talking about the final show of the Bash tour would be taking place that night in the stadium. Dusty then went on a great diatribe about everything and this is a slam dunk extra.Next we get clips of the Roadies/MX match from 7/6 in Raleigh with Dusty on narration.Tony then talks about Jimmy Valiant losing his hair in a controversial finish to Paul Jones on 7/26 in Greensboro with clips to follow. This is extra material. Then we get Bill Apter interviewing Paul Jones about him taking Valiant's hair and he is hilarious here gloating about it. Extra material.Tony then is joined by the Roadies & Ellering talking about their cage match that night against the MX and how they are going to destroy them.Flair joins Tony next talking about losing his title to Dusty in Greensboro and he said that even though he isn't the champion he is still Ric Flair and he will get his belt back soon. Flair taking shots at the Braves annoncers was hilarious because Skip Caray would always take shots at wrestling. We also get clips of Dusty winning the title. Extra material. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew join Tony next talking about Flair's loss to Dusty and they narrate over clips of Ronnie Garvin vs. Black Bart from 7/6. Ole then cuts an awesome promo on Dusty saying that they would finish him for good later that night. Extra material."Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. George South (7/27/86)There is a great shot of a young Terri Boatwright (Runnels) watching the match from the curtain area as Budro takes out South. Budro's standing dropkick on the floor was nuts.Tony is then joined by the debuting Kansas Jayhawks (Bobby Jaggers & Dutch Mantell) and JCP is loading up their roster right now. The Jayhawks want a shot at the MX in the worst way.Tony then is joined by the debuting "Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch who is back to help his former partner Dusty Rhodes in his battle with the Horsemen. Murdoch openly mentioning the WWF was so hilarious. Murdoch also went off on the Russians and said that he was here for America. Extra material."Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch vs. Bill Mulkey (7/27/86)Murdoch nukes Mulkey with the Brainbuster.
