Posted December 12, 200717 yr comment_5425110 Roddy Piper vs. Buddy Rose (2/3 falls) - Once again, these guys have a really solid 1st fall with both guys going back and forth trying to get the advantage. Piper ends the 1st fall with a sleeper but not before BUddy tried ramming him in the turnbuckle a few times in an attempt to get him to break it. 2nd fall has Rose busting Piper open on the ring post before he can even get into the ring. Buddy is going to town on the gash. At this point, I thought Piper would show some fighting spirit before Buddy would put him away in the 2nd fall. However, Piper gets a rollup and beats Buddy 2 straight falls. Again, these guys have agreat match with each other and an easy nomination. (Lynch Vol. 3)
December 23, 200717 yr comment_5425772 Northwest Heavyweight Title: Roddy Piper © vs. “Playboy” Buddy Rose (9/17/80) (Roddy Piper Story) This is their last match before the loser leaves town match that would be on 9/20. Don Owen cuts a great promo about guys leaving Portland and having to pay too much for talent. Rose with his short brown hair and stache is awesome then wearing 3 shirts is even better. The crowd at the Sports Arena in Portland are going nuts before the match even starts. Rose stalls on the floor for the early part of the match but gets in the ring soon enough and gets the advantage on Piper. Piper would turn the tide though and just starts brawling with Rose before locking in the sleeper for the end of the 1st fall. Rose would attack Piper as soon as the 2nd fall started posting Piper causing him to juice and the fans are going nuts for Piper. Rose works on the cut heavily causing Piper to really bleed but that gets Piper excited and he starts brawling but Rose would always cut him off. Piper would catch Rose sleeping though and got him in an O’Connor Roll to win in consecutive falls. Rose attacked him after the match with a steel chair but Piper got it back from him and would bash all the heels who tried to get in his way. This was a damn good match with lots of heat and blood from Piper and definitely moves forward.
July 29, 201015 yr comment_5453722 The total package here is awesome. With the pre match promos, and post match brawl and interviews. The bout was hate filled and was worked accordingly to grudge feel the feud generated. I loved how Rose played chicken shit heel early in the 1st round, loved his viciousness working the cut in the 2nd fall. The crowd was so hot for this bout. Nomination
April 2, 201114 yr comment_5468878 Again, I loved Buddy stalling in the face of Piper's fury and the way he let Roddy have his way when the time was right. I was amused at the idea that the guy who won a fall with a sleeper was expected to wake his opponent up. Buddy ambushed Roddy and busted him wide open to start the second fall. As usual, he did a great job going after the cut. Roddy's desperation counters were great, and the crowd seemed truly shocked when he put Buddy away in two straight falls. This needed more time to turn into something really great, but between the promos, the atmosphere and the blood, it still deserves a place on the set.
July 10, 201213 yr comment_5509791 Man I fucking love Don Owen. His pre-match speech about how he can't do LLT matches because he can't afford it is so great and Buddy and Piper playing off of it is even better. Then Buddy tops it with his pre-match striptease. The crowd is fucking crazed for this as you've got out of control Piper doing his theme and Buddy at his douchey best. I loved the way Buddy sold everything from the shot to the gut that regained momentum for Roddy, to strikes to the face. Sleep spot was really well done with Rose trying to escape in vain and Piper refusing to "get him out" of the effects of the sleeperhold leaving it in the hands of Sandy Barr. Beginning of the second fall is great as Rose ambushes Roddy and busts him open. Buddy goes straight to work on the cut, biting it, punching it and then disposing of his blood on Sandy Barr's shirt. I liked Piper's bloody faced flurry a lot, but this needed a bit more meat before the roll up to be an all time classic. Having said that this was pretty fucking great for the time it got and if you add in pre and post match stuff it's a top ten contender
