Seriously, his interaction with the midgets and avoidance of Boyd is great. I want you guys to watch this stuff before I nominate it but I thought it was great for the comedy even if the wrestling was minimal. I mean, seriously, have you ever seen a game of chicken in a wrestling match before??? Jay Youngblood & Buzzsaw Sawyer Interview interrupted by Buddy Rose (EXTRA) Buddy Rose vs. Jay Youngblood (2/3 Falls) (12/27/80) - First fall was rather dull until Buddy gets caugh up in a bridge roll-up for the Youngblood pin. 2nd fall has Youngblood doing some nice arm work on Buddy that makes up for the 1st fall. There are also some pretty good nearfalls in this fall making you think Youngblood could upset Rose 2 falls in a row. Youngblood takes the 2nd fall when Buddy gives up and gets counted out, ending the match. However, Sandy Barr takes the Northwest Belt and holds it up for a rematch since Youngblood had him beat. THis match was ok but not enough for a nomination in my view. Jonathan Boyd Interview (between falls) Buddy Rose & HIs Army Interview Rip Oliver & The Destroyer attack Jonathan Boyd. Boyd gives bloody interview after the match. Buddy Rose refuses to give Jay Youngblood the new nicer-looking Northwest Title. However, he gives him a cheap shot and the Army attacks. Buddy Rose vs. Jay Youngblood (2/3 falls) (1/3/81) - First fall has Rose working on the arm and is centered around Youngblood getting out of Rose's arm work. However, the 2nd half of the fall has Youngblood going to town on Rose's arm. Unique ending as Youngblood keeps chopping Rose's arm until Rose quits. The 2nd fall has both guys wokring on each others' arms when in control. However, Rose gets DQed and loses 2 straight falls again. I enjoyed this match much more than the first meeting and it is probably my favorite Rose-Youngblood matchup on this disc. Clip of Youngbloods vs. Oliver & Destroyer (EXTRA) Jay Youngblood vs. Rip Oliver (Apache Strap match) (2/14/81) - Pretty good match wtih some vicious strap shots and a bloody Rip Oliver. Not a high-end candidate but worth a nomination. - Buddy Rose vignette on the beach. This also appeared on WWF TV to hype his appearance. (EXTRA) Jay Youngblood vs. The Destroyer (Apache Strap match) (3/8/81) - I enjoyed this one more than the Oliver strap match. Right off the bat, I am taken by surprise as Destroyer is stalling outside the ring until Youngblood yanks him in by the strap to get the match started. Youngblood busts Destroyer open outside and starts tearing at the mask to let the blood flow. The post-match interview sets up a title match for the next week. Another nomination. News Feature on Portland Wrestling (EXTRA) Jay Youngblood vs. The Destroyer (3/15/81) - Final moments of title match. Destroyer wins the Northwest Title. Buddy Rose vs. Jay Youngblood (2/3 falls) (4/11/81) - Buddy is wearing Youngblood's headdress. Buddy promises to throw the belt in Mt. St. Helens if he wins. Awesome. Apparently, the old ugly belt was thrown off a bridge by Buddy Rose which is why a new one was created. Damn, and this was 5 years before Slater threw the TV title off a bridge and almost 20 years before Steve Austin did it. I wonder if we can find a segment even older of someone throwing a title of a bridge. I think it may have happened in Florida but don't know if it was before or after Rose did it. Anyway, 1st fall has both guys exchanging pin attempts in hopes of putting the match away early. Eventually, Rose gets the pin with a rollup. The 2nd fall is worked with Rose in a headlock. You have to see the way Buddy is pinned after succumbing to 70 side headlock slapdowns (?). 3rd fall has the headlock in effect again but Buddy avoids it by throwing Jay out of the ring. Buddy tries to put the match away with the backbreaker but Jay ends up with a sunset flip for the pin and the title. Rose is a sore loser afetr the match and destorys Youngblood with the title belt. I can't say it enough but Buddy Rose is a genius. I didn't like this as much as the other Youngblood-Rose match but it is still a nomination. Buddy Rose vs. Matt Borne (2/3 Falls) (5/9/81) - There were some VQ issues that kept me out of the flow of the match in the 1st fall. Rose wins after the backbreaker. 2nd fall and Rose executes a couple of great looking body slams. He abuses Borne some more until Borne changes the tide with an atomic drop. Borne eventually takes the fall iwth an airplane spin. IN the 3rd fall, Rose has Borne in a schoolboy pin but tries to hold the tights. He then proceeds to pull the tights when the ref is counting and lets goes when he stops the count. So, we get to see Borne's ass crack a few times. I missed what happened but Buddy ends covered in blood. Rip Oliver runs in for the DQ and that is that. FOr some reason, I couldn't really get into this match. I may have to watch it again but I am not going to nominate it at this time. Buddy Rose Interview (EXTRA) Buddy Rose & Rip Oliver vs. Roddy Piper & Steven Regal (2/3 Falls) (6/20/81) - Battle Royale
