Seriously, are there any other Georgia matches that are more famous than this? Anyway, I know Gordy gets a lot of props (And he deserves them) but Buddy Roberts is freaking great also. December 12, 200717 yr comment_5425132 Well the thing for TV back then was to sell the house shows and save the big long matches for those not for free on TV hence why you had hot angles and good promos but matches that were either too short or complete squashes.
December 12, 200717 yr Author comment_5425134 I know that... but every territory would have the occasional marquee matchup. In fact, the Dibiase piledriver angle was played out in the studio and would be a must-have regardless of what set it ends up on. We just nominated a ton of studio matches from Mid South that took place for TV tapings althoughI understand Watts liked putting big matches on TV. It is just hard to go from Portland where you had 30 minute 2/3 falls matches every week to Georgia where the matches are averaging 5 minutes.
December 12, 200717 yr comment_5425136 Don Owen in Portland would run his tapings from his big shows at the Sports Arena so yeah he had different ways of doing things sorta like World Class at the Sportatorium and later Continental. Memphis, Florida, Georgia, WWF, & JCP all shared a similar type of formula for their TV that makes it hard especially with Florida & Georgia although JCP would run some important matches on TV and show stuff from house shows fairly complete.
