Greg Valentine vs. Ric Flair (start at 24:50) (28:35)

- Former partners clash. For the first ten minutes, Flair controls and they take thier time in setting the tone. However, with a few well-placed, vicious elbows from Valentine, he turns the tide. While Flair worked the arm when in control, Valentine is working the neck and head. The last 8 minutes or so had both guys throwing everything at each other in an attempt to put the match away. Flair wins the match by countout but it was actually a pretty cool ending. They were battling on the apron outside the ropes. Valentine knocks Flair over the ropes with a hard blow but falls off the apron at the ten count. This was a great match and an easy nomination.

US Heavyweight Title: Greg "The Hammer" Valentine © vs. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair (10/18/80)

Buffalo is smokin hot for Flair here chanting his name before the match. Good standard wrestling action to start with Flair getting the advantage working holds and keying on Valentine's left arm. Valentine eventually starts throwing some hard right forearms at Flair's face at a fast pace to turn the tide in his favor and this is getting really good. Valentine then takes Flair to the mat where he smothers him basically while working on his left arm with a reverse hammerlock and they keep it moving so the fans are into Flair getting up. Flair comes back firing some great forearms as well and this is turning into a stiff slugfest with both men laying in the shots. The stretch run was very fun as Flair gets quite a few nearfalls and the figure-four but Valentine would always find a way to survive. The finish was interesting as Flair had Valentine on the apron and started pounding on him before Greg brought Flair out with him forcing a double count well Flair would hit Valentine and both fell but Flair fell in the ring to win by countout. Fans hated the finish but this was a fantastic match and a definite nomination.

An easy nomination. Flair is so over as a baby face . The 1st half has some fun strikes. Then we have Flair work the arm. Valentine cuts him off and Flair has to fight underneath. Valentine focuses on the neck and back. The last 10 or so minutes you see both guys just laying it in. I liked the finish , but it got kinda scary heat. It's kinda surreal to see Flair headlining a show where he's the challenger for the U.S title. Again this was good stuff.
