Johnny Weaver Interview

Jimmy Valiant vs. Tim Gerrard

- Over in about 20 seconds

Blackjack Mulligan Jr. vs. Big John Studd (EXTRA)

- Barry Windham is about as tall as Studd. Not much of a match. They brawl on the outside and it's over. Still, Toronto is going crazy over the showdown.

Stan Hansen & Ole Anderson Interview (interrupted by Jimmy Valiant)

Ric Flair Promo

Ric Flair vs. Jay Youngblood

- In the NWA studio, not Toronto. I think I already watched this on the Lynch set.

Angelo Mosca vs. Tarzan Tyler

Tyler is a out as big as Adrian Adonis without the talent.

Jay Youngblood vs. Johnny Weaver

-I need to watch this again as I kept getting distracted.

Blackjack Mulligan Jr. vs. Ninja

- I don't know who Ninja is. Doesn't look like Kabuki. Anyway, Mulligan goes for the claw but gets mist in the face and Ninja is DQed.

Big John Studd vs. John Bonello

- Squash

Interviews

Sgt. Slaughter vs. Wahoo McDaniel

- Already reviewed

Interviews

This starts with promos from Studd about his Bunkhouse match against Mulligan and Piper about his match with Steamer at MLG on 3/21/82.

Then we get a promo from Johnny Weaver about the NWA World Tag Titles being vacant.

Cadillac Cup - Round 1: "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant vs. Tim Gerrard (3/7/82)

Total squash.

Next we get a promo from Studd who is in Canada this time.

Then we get promos from Slaughter & Jim Nelson and Austin Idol about their matches at MLG on 4/4/82.

Cadillac Cup - Quarterfinals: Blackjack Mulligan Jr. vs. Big John Studd (3/7/82)

Studd and Barry's dad has feuded for years so there is hatred here and the fans are into this but it's a short match that ends in a double countout. You can really see how Barry was starting his upward trajectory.

Next we get a promo from Ray Stevens about Ole & Stan Hansen and their brawl with Jimmy Valiant on TV with Piper stirring the pot. Extra material.

Then we get a promo from Mosca about going for the AWA title at MLG on 4/25/82.

Next we get a promo from Flair about his match with Race at MLG on 4/25/82.

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Jay Youngblood (1/31/82)

This is from WCPQ Studios in Charlotte with Piper joining Rich Landrum & Ray Stevens on commentary. Flair shows subtle heel tendencies here and is really good at selling for Youngblood who is focused on trying to look good against the NWA champ. Flair starts strutting around which pisses off Jay who just lays him down with a chop out of a clean break. That strike turns this into a slugfest and the fans are hot for the action. Steamer comes out to root for Jay after Flair sends him to the floor but Flair can't keep control as Jay is on fire getting nearfalls and having Flair reeling. The bell rings after Jay gets a nearfall on an inside cradle but Flair keeps attacking Jay until Steamer tells him the bell rung and the other babyfaces come in trying to hold Flair back. The deal was that Flair supposedly didn't hear the bell but the foreshadowing is here. I dug this match a lot and I'm pushing it on as a nomination.

"King Kong" Angelo Mosca vs. Tarzan Tyler (4/4/82)

Tyler is old and sucks so a match with Mosca is of course pretty sucky.

Next we get a promo from Bock & Heenan with Mean Gene about his match at MLG on 4/25/82.

Cadillac Cup - Round 1: Johnny Weaver vs. Jay Youngblood (3/7/82)

This is a battle of the Mid-Atlantic tag champs and this doesn't start out with a display of mat wrestling as both men work at a good pace hitting moves so that's good. It didn't last very long though before they started working holds and the boring chants got kicking up at MLG. Weaver gets it and decides to go back to throwing suplexes which gets Jay's dander up and there are a couple off staredowns before Weaver shoves Jay down and the punches start flying but it's not long before they go back to the mat. Ring Announcer Norm Kimber announces there is 1 minute left so they kick it into overdrive telegraphing the draw which happens. The thing here though is that the referee made a decision on the winner and Tommy Young awarded the match to Weaver. Fun for what it was.

Next we get promos from Valiant wearing an eyepatch declaring war on Ivan Koloff and Jake about his match with Sarge at MLG on 5/16.

Blackjack Mulligan vs. The Ninja (Mr. Pogo) (4/4/82)

This is from MLG and not much of anything.

Cadillac Cup - Round 1: Big John Studd vs. John Bonello (3/7/82)

Pretty much a squash. I love how Bonello is billed from the Isle of Malta like Baron Mikel Scicluna.

Then we get a promo from Jack Brisco about Valiant being blinded with clips of said blinding before Valiant comes out himself vowing revenge on Ivan.

Vince McMahon is back with a promo from Andre the Giant & Big John Studd who is in Florida with Gordon Solie about their match at MLG on 7/25.

Next we get the Wahoo/Sarge match I've already watched.

Then we get a promo with Johnny Weaver about Jack Brisco & Roddy Piper having an issue about the Mid-Atlantic title. Tim Horner talks shit on Piper so he gets his ass kicked by Piper & Ivan until Jack runs in getting his shirt ripped off then David Crockett gets shoved down before Muraco makes the save.

Next we get a promo from Piper about his match with Brisco on 7/11 at MLG.

Then we get another promo from a fired up Piper about Jack and they show clips of Piper injuring Jerry Brisco on TV. Piper starts talking about hating Indians which brings out a pissed Wahoo and Piper leaves. Wahoo then cuts a fired up promo as well. Good stuff.

Next we get a promo from Johnny Weaver and clips of a match from Greensboro between Koloff/Ninja against Jake/Valiant which saw Jake get injured.

Then we get a promos from Jake & Valiant against Koloff/Ninja on 7/11 at MLG.

Johnny Weaver vs. Don Kernodle (6/29/82)

Okay match.

Next we get another promo from Piper on Jack and Sarge on Wahoo about their matches at MLG on 7/11.
